Early Resident of the Creek Road

A Mr. and Mrs. Crossman and family sailed up the South—West River about sixty years ago and launched his large house-boat (in which he lived) on the property now owned by Kenneth Thompson. He settled it near a spring surrounded by spruce trees. Mr. Crossman was an optic- ian. One of his children was born while living there.

Those who remember him, wonder today, how he got the boat set- tled in there, or where he went when he left. They remember him living

there one winter at least. Ever since, that bush always has been called the “Crossman Bush”.

Extinct Home On County Line Road George McGuirk

In 1937 Patrick McGuirk (mentioned elsewhere) bought property from Mrs. George Henderson. This property was situated along the County Line Road and across the road from David Sheehan’s home.

Mr. McGuirk moved part of his original home to this property, where he and his wife, son, George, and daughters, Pearl and Mamie, went to make their home.

After Mr. and Mrs. McGuirk died, the family of three lived there for some time before having the home moved to Kensington, approxim- ately 1953.

The property was sold to Elmer Stewart of Norboro and was later bought by Phillip Henderson, who now owns it.

George McGuirk died in 1970.

Misses Pearl and Mamie both live in Charlottetown and Mr. and Mrs. George Wall now own the McGuirk home in Kensington.
