127 same. The following year, Mr. Watson , the Organist, tendered his resignation citing the fact that the work interfered with his business causing it to suffer. This problem was resolved at the Annual Congregational Meeting when it was decided to ask Mr. Watson to stay on as an Organist and accept a salary of $200.00 as a way of acknowledging the inconvenience rendered him and to help defray a portion of the losses he suffered due to the amount of time he had to take away from his business activities. This was the beginning of the yearly honorarium thereafter paid to successive organists of the Cathedral as a gesture of thanks for their time and energies expended to enhance the beauty of the services of worship offered unto Almighty God. 127.
