and whom we ought to serve.152 Bishop Courtney, Bishop of Nova Scotia , and the Archdeacon of Prince Edward Island , Archdeacon Weston - Jones , and a number of visiting clergy and laity were present at the main Sunday Service marking the founding of St. Peter 's Cathedral. Cathedral Yearly Totals in 1894. A total of 420 celebrations of Holy Communion took place at St. Peter 's over the year, with 3,205 Communions being made. Many of the Sunday School children, already having been catechized, joined the Scripture Union. The workload of the Priest Incumbent was eased somewhat with the addition of Mr. Fred Scovill , B.A . in August as a licensed layreader. Besides doing Parish work and teaching in the St. Peter 's Boys' School, he consented to assist the Reverend E.T. Woollard in conducting Services of Holy Communion at Cherry Valley and Souris one Sunday each month. St. Peter 's continued to prosper throughout the year. The clerical staff of the Cathedral and the teaching staff of the St. Peter 's schools were increased by the addition of the Reverend A.E. Andrews , B.A ., who was ordained deacon at the Cathedral on Advent Sunday in 1895. The teaching staff of the Day Schools now numbered six, made necessary by a satisfactory increase in the number of students attending the two schools. Statistically, the year was quite impressive and although the number of celebrations of Holy Communion decreased to 409 primarily due to the arrangement with Cherry Valley and Souris , the actual number of Communions made by the congregation reached the highest total during the 34 year Incumbency of Father James „, ,.,--. .,, ,. , t ■ 0. __ _oo rra. . c Mr. Fred Scovill , B.A ., Assistant Simpson, of 3,388. lhe number of 0 , , ,r , _,.,,, , ~ .,. , Schoolmaster, and Layreader Cathedral member families also _ SL Peter,s Cathedral Archives 152.
