Stewart and Mr. Bayfield , was to report back to a meeting of the congregation. Mr. W.C. Cotton , on behalf of those gathered, expressed great appreciation of the generosity shown by Mr. Justice Hodgson . In addition, Mr. Cotton offered $100.00 towards the cost of the plans and superintendence of the project. The Committee reported back to a Special Meeting on February 24th, that Father Simpson's estimates had been quite correct. The sum of $2,500.00 promised by Mr. Hodgson although not available immediately, could be accessed through a loan to that amount. The Committee had submitted the plans and estimates to Mr. Hodgson who thought the scheme a good one and on a sound basis. The current balance of the Rectory Fund stood at $1,271.00. In conclusion, each member of the Committee reported being personally in favor of going on with the work. Mr. W.L. Cotton then resolved, seconded by Mr. Fred Foster : that this meeting having heard the explanation of the Priest Incumbent as to the state of the Church, and the report of the Committee, hereby authorize the erection of a Rectory to cost not more than $4,000.00 — building operations to be conducted by a special committee in conjunction with the Priest Incumbent.160 A ballot was taken on this resolution with the votes of the Ladies and Men being counted separately. Fifteen women and 12 men voted for acceptance of the motion while 2 men only voted against it. Ups and Downs for the Cathedral in 1905. The new year proved to be a year of significant change for St. Peter 's. The Reverend Dr. T.H. Hunt resigned his position as Assistant Priest at the Cathedral and Headmaster of the St. Peter 's Boys' School in July to accept a Lectureship in Hebrew at Trinity college, Toronto . After 17 years of faithful and loving work at St. Peter 's he was very much missed by the congregation and clergy there. The school continued under the direction of the Priest Incumbent who proceeded to secure the services of Mr. A. Dunstan as Assistant Headmaster. He was formerly of King's College, Windsor. The Day School soon settled back into full working order again. The choir continued under special instruction of Professor Tanton . The year also marked the completion of the long-awaited Rectory for the Priest Incumbent, built on the corner of Rochford and Fitzroy Streets, at a cost of $3,981.98.
