contribution toward the Bishop’s stipend and Synod expenses. The same was true of Georgetown, and Souris also made an effort toward meeting its commitment. A new hot air furnace was installed at Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown and at St. Alban’s Church, Souris where a new set of lamps and two dozen Prayer Books with Hymnals were also added.

Beginning in June, the Assistant Priest at St. Peter’s, the Reverend H. Scott-Smith gave what time he could to the Parish of Georgetown, Cherry Valley and Souris, as the former rector, the Reverend M.H. Winter had accepted a position at a mainland N.S. parish. This situation necessitated the frequent absence of the Assistant-Priest from St. Peter’s on Sundays but, as Canon Simpson reported, "we were willing to make some sacrifice in order to keep their Churches open until a new Rector should be appointed."194 The spirit of mission outreach remained strong within the congregation of St. Peter’s. The Parish of Alberton was deeply thankful to the women’s Auxiliary of St. Peter’s Cathedral for the gilt of hangings, etc. for the altar that was sent to them.
