MacARTHUR
Captain MacArthur lived across the road from Baltic School, he was captain of several vessels, including the “Corporal Trim” and Sir Louis Davis a two top sailing vessel. He later moved to Halifax.
MacDONALD
Archibald MacDonald b. 1875, d. 1962 son of Archibald and Christie (Rattery) MacDonald, Summerside, P.E.I. He'moved to the Baltic in 1908, a very active man he made fishing his life’s employment and enjoyment and continued 1n this occupation until a month previous to his passing in his eighty- seventh year. In 1909 he married Loretta Champion b. 1886, d. 1965 daughter of Thomas and Isabel Ferguson Champion, Baltic, and resided on the Baltic River Road. They had a family of ten children namely:
Irene Isabel, after attending Baltic School spent some years in the United States later returning and married Ansel Champion, Darnley where she now resides. She has two sons Edward and Gordon.
Charles J. (Ted), a fisherman joined the service in 1940 and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders and received the Military medallion for gallantry shown during the crossing of the River Helfa on May 25th, 1944. He was a comrade of Hon. Daniel MacDonald and with him when he was so severely wounded. After the war he married Ruth Roach Whitlock and settled in Darnley and worked for a time with the Department of Fisheries,
and continued in the fishing industry until his retirement. They have three children, Nancy, Mary and Fred.
Lulu, Burney Hynes, Granville and resided there until her passing in 1971, they have two children Claire, Sea View and Donald, Baltic.
Gladys, educated at Baltic School resides on the old homestead, is an active craftworker. Her nephew Donald resides with her.
Emma, married Vernon Champion of Darnley, later lived in St. John, NB. and now in the USA. They have two children Donald and Mary.
John, a fisherman enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery, and served as a gunner, after returning home for a short period he moved to Calgary, Alberta, and resided there until his death in 1969.
Clara was educated at Baltic School and later married Kentford Abbott of Malpeque, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hartwell Abbott. They had two children, Vicky and Dianne. Clara now resides in Windsor, Ontario.
Ruth was educated at Baltic School, then married Elton MacKay of Sea View, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank MacKay. They had one daughter Linda. Before her death in 1949, Ruth and Elton resided in Traveller’s Rest.
Evelyn was educated at Baltic School. She later took a secretarial course.
