SIMPSON

Chester Simpson (1869-1943), son of William and Elizabeth Simpson, married Margaret Crozier (1875-1908), daughter of William and Sarah Donald Crozier, from the next farm. They had one daughter, Ella, Mrs. Harper MacNeil, R.N., who resides in Florida, but is a regular visitor to P.E.I. Mr. Simpson’s second wife was Mabel Dennis of Charlottetown.

Their family were Marion, married Ellsworth Bagnall (deceased), is now Mrs. John Henderson, Charlottetown; Jean, Mrs. Winston Mayne, Ot-

tawa; and Dorothy Beairsto, died in 1978. Mabel Simpson, died 1964.

Rev. Alexander Simpson (1867-1945), eldest son of William J. and Elizabeth Laird Simpson, after graduation from P.W.C., taught for two ~ years in Hamilton, P.E.I. Following graduation from college in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1897, he held pastorates at East Point, New Glasgow, and Summerside. In 1900, he married Ella Jean Bagnall, of New Glasgow, P.E.I. From 1913 till his retirement in 1941, he held pastorates near Nor- walk, Iowa. Their family are Roland and Mary (Mrs. Wendell Tutt).

SINCLAIR John Sinclair (1814-1882), emigrated from Catiness, Scotland in 1842 and resided on the south side of MacGillvarys barn below the quarry, here he operated a post office and a tavern. His wife was Marion Miller (1855- 1936). Their gradndaughter married John Hunter grandfather of William and Erskine Hunter. Mr. Sinclair is referred to as “Caitness Sinclair”, by those who have knowledge of him. John Hunter (1830-1905) and his wife . .

WILLIAM THOMPSON

William Thompson, the son of John and Anne Thompson of Darnley, came to Baltic in 1949. ‘He acquired this property from Alonzo Holmes. It

had originally been owned by Mrs. Richard Wall and had served the community as a Post Office and Grocery Store (circa 1915).

Doctor Thompson wasra Veterinary Surgeon and practiced in a large

» territory serving the farmers of Baltic and Neighbouring communities. One

of his main hobbies was repairing radios.

William Thompson died on February 20th, 1975 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Indian River. The old home was demolished in 1976.

URUSKI (RON)

Ron Uruski, a Canadian Armed Forces Argus pilot, stationed at C.F.B. Summerside procured the Ansel Bernard house from Cliff Ramsay in 1967.

He resided here until he was posted to C.F.B. Greenwood, Nova Scotia in 1971. In 1972 he sold the house to Ron and Mary Cameron.
