“We’re Thinking of Home” Here we are across the Ocean Far away from home and kin And we’ve got a strong, strong notion To go back there, once again.

Little did we think of leaving

And little did we dream the while; That so soon we would be grieving And our face would lose its smile.

But now tis almost Christmas

And our thoughts are homeward bound. So we wish to see “Istimies”

Now so far beyond our sound.

But although our hearts are sad, At this joyous Christmas Tide Yet we feel that we’ll be glad

In the years that are to glide.

For we’ve heard the call of duty Breathing out its solemn note;

And looking not for fame or booty We’ve donned the khaki coat.

Nobly do we face the danger That across the sea doth lie; Think of the peaceful manger Of Bethe] in the days gone by.

Oh! homefolks at this joyous time We wish you all our cheer;

And hope that all may be sublime, In a bright and glad New Year.
