Meacham s Atlas of 1881 indicates that John Arbing owned a lot in the Freetown Village (code 40) which he purchased in 1877. It is believed that this was the first blacksmith shop in Freetown Village. He was also an agent for Mowers and Reapers. Apparently John was a son of Jabez Arbing , who owned several blocks of land in Freetown in 1881.
