2d Willie b. 26 Feb. 1890 in Central Bedeque. He served overseas in the First World War and was killed in action during the last month of the war.

Dwight was b. in Freetown village 7 May 1896. He attended school in Freetown and when he was old enough he worked in the tailor shop. Dwight served overseas in the First World War. On his return he and John Jardine bought a lot in Freetown with the intention of starting a mercantile business which never materialized. He m. Vera Bernard who was b. in Spring Valley 25 July 1901. They had three sons: 1. W. Boyd, b. 29 Aug. 1922. He m. Gwen Semple and they have four children: 1. Joy b. 13 Apr. 1955 m. Ervin Johnstone. 2. Pam b. 3 Sept. 1956 m. Bob MacDonald. 3. Skip b. 18 Oct. 1966. In business with his father. 4. Greg b. 29 July 1968 at home. Boyd operates an Insurance and Real Estate Business in Kensington. 2. Harvey, b. 1 Feb. 1924. He (1. 9 Aug. 1929. 3. Charles, b. 18 May 1933. He m. Carrie Thompson formerly of Mill Valley and have four children: 1. Heather, 2. Kathy, 3. Dwight, 4. Marla. Charles is a Real Estate salesman in Dart- mouth, N.S. Dwight d. 19 Apr. 1934.

DANIEL MacLEOD BERNARD
The Bernards supposedly left Normandy because of religious persecution in France. From Normandy they moved to Holland, then on to England. From Yorkshire, the Bernards were lured to the New World and they moved to New York. The Bernards would not take up arms against England and eventually somewhere between 1781-1783 or later they moved to the Island of Saint John.
Samuel Bernard 1753—1842 in. Elizabeth Vine b. 1758. They had seven sons and five daughters. Samuel and Elizabeth are buried at Geddie Memorial Cem.
One of his sons named Charles Bernard b. 15 Feb. 1787 - d. 1870 In. Sarah Hyde Beairsto, lived in French River and had fourteen children. She d. 1845. Out ofthese fourteen children, John (1821-1888) m. Barbara Champion and lived in Long River. They had six children. One of whom was Charles Bernard (1846-1921) who m. Jane Palmer. They had nine children, three of whom resided in Freetown. 1. Daniel M. m. Bessie Delaney. 2. Maude m. John Profitt (see Profitt history). 3. John Edmund m. Charlotte Crozier.
