Jesse, son of Andrew and Sarah (Strang) Burns, b. 9 Nov. 1843 in Freetown; d. 13 Mar. 1898; m. 22 Oct. 1872 Sarah Jane Cameron dau. of John D. and Olive (Duncan) Cameron of Searletown. She was b. 12 Apr. 1847; d. 30 Apr. 1936; bur. in North Bedeque Cem.

Jesse was Superintendent of the Presbyterian Sunday School in Lower Freetown. He was active in Sons of Temperance and also held the position of Usher of the Black Rod in the Provincial Legislature. He owned property in Lot 26 (code 120) situated on the Drummond road and the Old Malpeque Road where Alfred Reeves now lives (1985). They had six children, surname Burns.

4a 3a2c Annie Edith b. 4 Aug. 1873; d. 1 May 1926; m. John French. He (1. 30 Sept. 1956. They lived in USA. and had four children: Mabel, Muriel, Ruth and Roberta.

Sterling purchased land from Bruce Taylor (part code 65) and farmed there until poor health forced him to give up this occupation and he sold this property to Roy Hill. This is the lot presently owned by Edward MacMillan (1984). Sterling and Hattie then moved to Freetown Village where they added much to that community. They had one daughter.

Roy Burns, son of Jesse and Jane (Cameron) Burns, b. 13 Nov. 1884 in Lower Freetown; d. 12 May 1964; m. 5 Feb. 1913 Isabella Jane Cameron, dau. of Duncan and Margaret Jane (Cairns) Cameron. She was b. 17 Dec. 1876; d. 1 Jan. 1968; bur. in Freetown Cem. Roy and Belle were active in church and community affairs. Roy was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Sons of Temperance. He farmed the land (code 64) now owned by their son, Jesse C. Burns on the Old Malpeque road in Lower Freetown.

They had three ch. surname Burns.

5a 4f 3a2c Evelyn b. 29 Nov. 1913; she has many interests, but due to ill health, her activities are limited. She lives in Lower Freetown.

5c 4f3a2c. Winnifred b. 27 May 1918; Attended Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown and was a teacher in several schools on P.E.I. Later she was employed by the Civil Service in the Dept. of National Defence at Ottawa, Ont., Halifax, NS. and at Canadian Forces Base at Summerside and is now living

in Lower Freetown.

Rogers, dau. of William and Marian (Campbell) Rogers of Freetown. Jesse and Dorothy live on the homestead in Lower Freetown where they have a farm and fox ranch. They are active in community affairs and have been members of the Freetown United Church choir for many years.
