Ralph R. Burns, son of Russell and Anna (Rogers) Burns b. Oct. 1911 in South Freetown; d. 24 July

1978 in Freetown; m. 12 Sept. 1934, Mary Ellen Heffell, dau. of William and Maude (Rayner) Heffell. She was b. 25 Nov. 1910 in Travellers Rest. Ralph was a barber and merchant in Freetown, since 1933. They had two children:

5a4k3a2d Roger Siebert b. 26 Oct. 1937 in South Freetown; m. (1) 11 Sept. 1961, Beverly Rose Oland. They had two children: 1. Crystal Ellen Hazel b. 29 Jan. 1962. 2. Micheline Catherine Oland b. 7 May 1963; m. 2. Doris _. No children.

Roger attended Kensington High School, Prince of Wales College and Mt. Allison University where he received his B.A. degree in 1959. He spent nine years as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. He subsequently returned to college and graduated from the University of Toronto with an MA. degree in 1968. That same year hejoined Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. and since 1976 has been general manager for that company in the State of Virginia, U.S.A. Roger and his wife Doris, formerly of Chicago, 111., U.S.A., live in Richmond, Va. U.S.A.

Catherine Alison b. 7 Sept. 1974. They live at Land’s End, near Victoria BC. where Byron teaches school. Byron received his BA. degree from Simon Fraser University and his B.Ed. from Mt. Allison University, Sackville, N.B. Byron has also received a commercial art diploma, and a commercial pilots license.

+2e Alexander Burns Alexander, son of William and Barbara (Burns) Burns b. c. 1824; d. 3 Apr. 1885; m. 12 May 1862 (Lic) Susannah Lewis, dau. of John and Sarah (VanBuskirk) Lewis. She was b. 17 Aug. 1841; d. 22 Jan. 1924.

Alexander had a farm (code 60) next to his brother James, bordering on the main Freetown road and

the Kinkora Road. After his death, Susannah sold the land to Jonah Lewis. The farm machinery and livestock was sold by public auction. They had five children, surname Burns.

John Burns, son of William and Barbara (Burns) Burns, b. c. 1830; d. 4 Jan. 1905 in Amherst, N.S.;

m. 8 Sept. 1864, Jane Wilson, dau. of James Wilson. John inherited land from his father ‘commonly known as the lower shore farm’ in Lower Freetown. Later John lived on the old Malpeque road in lot 26. Eventually the family moved to U.S.A. but later settled in NS. They had at least five children: Martha, William, Margaret, Judson and Merdina, who m. 28 Nov. 1887, David Reeves of Upper Freetown. (See Reeves history.)

RENA BURT

Rena (Holmes) Burt came to Freetown around 1949 and was employed as a housekeeper at the home of Everett T. Schurman. She remained there for several years where she was faithful and well respected. Her husband, Everett was a blacksmith and a fisherman. They were residents of Malpeque. He was lost at sea

in 1935.

Rena was b. 1899 and d. 1975. They had four ch.: Amon who m. Hazel Barrett, Jean who m. Eric Thompson, Evelyn m. Bernard Shields and Louise m. William MacIntyre.

GEORGE CAHILL . Around 1930, George Cahill moved to Freetown Village and lived in the former Henry Lewrs house.
