Robert Stewart had a farm on the North Freetown Road formerly owned by John Cairns (code 13). This farm is owned in 1985 by William Cairns. Robert Stewart resided here all his life.

+4a 3f2e Frank L. b. 24 Jan. 1895. He m. Winnifred MacFarlane 2 Feb. 1921. She was b. 21 Feb. 1894. Frank d. 9 Dec. 1964 and Winnie d. 1976 in Suffolk.
4b 3f2e Mary Isabella b. 1897, mm. She lived almost all her life with brother R. Louis except when she took a course in music at Mt. Allison University. She was a music teacher and church organist in Freetown for many years.
+4c 3f2e Robert Louis b. 19 July 1899. He 111. Mary E. Rogers, 10 June 1946. They had no family. Louis d. 7 July 1978.
+4a3f2e Frank L. Cairns Frank L. Cairns resided on the Main Freetown Road on what is known as the Duncan MacPhee farm (code 49). He farmed there all his life except when he attended agricultural college and served in World War 1.
Frank and Winnie (MacFarlane) Cairns had four children, surname Cairns.
5a 4a3f2e Frances Louise b. 9 Sept. 1922. She m. George A. Cairns, Charlottetown, 19 June 1946 where she lived till her death in 1973. They had three children: Anna Lynn, Winnifred Elizabeth and David Kenneth.
5b 4a3f2e Robert H. b. 12 Dec. 1924. He m. Dorothy Isobel Crews, 7 May 1948. She was b. 25 Apr. 1926. They live in Ancaster, Ont. and have a family of five: 1. Lizabeth Lea b. 5 Jan. 1950, 2. Robert Ronald b. 1 May 1952, 3. Janice Joanne b. 21 May 1955, 4. Jeffrey Jay b. 21 Oct. 1957, 5. Malcolm MacFarlane b. 28 May 1968.
5c 4a3f2e Fred MacFarlane b. 29 Sept. 1929. He drowned at Staverts Shore, 13 July 1947.
5d 4a3f2e Charlotte A. b. 14 May 1933. She m. Mark Johnston, Suffolk. He was b. 5 Sept. 1938. They had five children: 1. Frederick Stewart b. 14 May 1960, 2. Mark Douglas b. 29 June 1961, 3. Beth Winnifred b. 10 June 1963, 4. Frank Cairns b. 7 May 1965, 5. Georgie Louise b. 13 Mar. 1972.
+4c3f2e R. Louis Cairns
R. Louis Cairns received the farm following his father’s demise and carried on farming as long as he was able, then he sold it to William Cairns. Louis kept pure bred Ayrshires for milking purposes for many years and raised hogs for market. Louis was an elder in the United Church at Freetown and was Superintendent of the Sunday School for many years.
R. Louis and Mary E. resided in the home during the remainder of his life, when Mary took an apartment in the home of RA. Profitt for a few years. She now resides in the Pope Apartments in Summerside in summer and goes to the Canadian West Coast in the winter. (See Rogers history.)
+3g2e Alexander Stewart Cairns
Alexander Stewart became heir of the property purchased by his father ca 1854 (code 7). He lived there all his life, following which the farm was sold to Donald Bernard in 1930 and is now farmed by Donalds’ son, Wendell.
Alexander and Annie (Anderson) Cairns had three daughters. 4a 3g2e Alice 1. b. 30 Oct. 1898. She left Freetown in the early 19205 and settled in Ottawa where she still resides.
