+ 2k William Cairns William was the youngest son of Robert and Mary (Carruthers) Cairns and lived in Dunstaffnage where

he is believed to have farmed.

William m. Margaret MacEachern who was b. 8 April 1843. They had a family of ten children, four of whom lived in Freetown.

3a 2k Mary b. 1867, um. She moved to Freetown in 1911 after her sister’s marriage. She stayed in Freetown until she moved to Summerside with her brother William James in 1926. She d. 1942 and is bur. in Wilmot Valley Cem.

3c 2k Alexander b. 1871. He came to Freetown in 1883 and lived with his uncle John. He moved to Stan- chel in 1903 and m. Annie Jane Matheson in 1904. She was b. 1873 and d. 1943. Alexander d. 1957. They raised a family of eight ch.

+3e 2k William James b. 1875. He m. Gertrude Wright in 1918 and had two daughters.

3g 2k Elizabeth (Bessie) Jane b. 1878 came to Freetown to live with her two aunts and Uncle John, several years previous to 1911. She m. John Andrew Burrows 1911. They had one son John Andrew b. 6 Apr. 1913.

+3e2k William James Cairns William James Cairns was b. 13 Mar. 1875 in Dunstaffnage. He went to live with his Uncle John in

Freetown ca. 1891. He m. Gertrude Wright, Middleton, 12 June 1918. She was b. 1891. William James Cairns was the recipient of his Uncle John’s farm. He sold it to Clayton Smith about 1925 and moved to Summerside

where he was the town’s first Shell Oil dealer. He (1. 14 June 1967. William James and Gertrude (Wright) Cairns had two daughters.

4a 3e2k Margaret L. b. 1919. She m. Francis Pritchard, 17 July 1948. Francis was b. 1922. They have one son and live in Ottawa.

4b 3e2k Elizabeth b. 1922. She m. Willard B. MacDonald. He d. 1963. Elizabeth d. 1978. They had one adopted son, Phillip who was Willard’s nephew. He lives in Summerside.

John Glen Cairns

John Glen Cairns came to Dunstaffnage in 1832 where he settled on the “Broombush Farm”. He moved to Freetown with his son William and resided on 202 acres (codes 10 and 11).

John Glen first wife’s name is unknown, but they had two children, surname Cairns.

+2a William b. 1816 in Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He m. Ellen Stewart (Apple Tree Stewart). She was b. 1816 and d. 24 Oct. 1878. William (:1. 31 Oct. 1856. They are bur. in Central Bedeque Baptist Cem. They had five children, all surname Cairns and b. in Freetown.

2b Janet (Jane) b. 1820 in Lockerbie, Scotland. Jane d. 21 Sept. 1889. She is bur. in Mt. Stewart Cemetery. Jane was raised at the home of her Uncle Robert and Aunt Mary (Carruthers) Cairns. She m. George Scott, Mt. Stewart. They had ten children.

John Glen m. second, Elizabeth McCaull no family. He d. 16 Mar. 1871 and is bur. in North Bedeque Cem.

+2a William Cairns

William Cairns lived on the Old Malpeque Road and owned 202 ac. on the east side of this road code 10 and 11, also a small acreage on the east side of the road where the buildings are still located. When he passed away, he gave the northern part ofthis land to his son John and the southern part to William Daniel.

3a 2a Sibella b. 9 Sept. 1840. She m. Charles Clark Maxfield. They had seven children. They sold the farm (code 124) now owned by Walter P. Stavert. In 1876, he moved to Edmonton, Alta. (See Maxfield history.)
