5 Feb. 1875. Samuel and Jane most likely settled at North Wiltshire, soon after their marriage, as their first child was born there in Dec. 1842. He received a lease to his fathers land there on 16 Feb. 1844.

He was a progressive farmer and owned a good acreage. He also established a lime kiln on his property (code 65). See story on lime kiln in chapter 4. He and his wife affiliated with the Methodist Church in Freetown.

Samuel m. Jane Threadgill ofSuffolk in Dec. 1841 and they raised a large family, some ofwhom were adopted.

+2f Marcus (Mark) Clow

On the 9th of Feb. 1884 Marcus Clow purchased 97 acres of land on the Nodd Road for $86.90 (code 93 and 94) with the house and buildings being located on 93. One source indicates that he was employed for a time with the railway in addition to his farming operation.

Mark Clow was the eldest son of Samuel and Jane (Threadgill) Clow and was b. 20 Aug. 1851 at New Wiltshire. He moved with his family to Freetown in 1875. He In. Sarah Ellen Reeves, daughter of Charles and Caroline (Beals) Reeves, on 30 Oct. 1875 at the North Bedeque Manse. She was b. in 1854. They were affiliated with Freetown Methodist Church. Sarah Ellen d. 1916 and Marcus (1. 1919. They are buried in Freetown People’s Cem.

Mark and Sarah (Reeves) Clow had at least five children all b. in South Freetown. 3a 2f William Rutherford Hays b. 9 June 1877. 3b 2f Charles Walton b. 19 Nov. 1880. 3c 2f John Amos b. 16 June 1882. He (1. 1950 and is bur. in Freetown Peoples Cemetery. 3d 2f Mary m. Isaac Somers and lived at St. John, NB. until they moved to New York. 3e 2f Elizabeth Jane m. Joseph Fitzgerald and lived at High Park, Mass.
