WILLIAM DEIGHAN

William Deighan imigrated from Ireland to P.E.I. around the year 1855. He settled on land (100 acres)

in Freetown where he built a home, and farmed all his life. This land was passed on to his son, Thomas,

who

later sold it to Cornelius Croken, whose son Pius lived there and farmed it until his death. It is now

owned by Pius’ son, Elmer Croken.

William Deighan bought a farm of 75 acres (codes 83 and 84) from Felix Murphy, Freetown for his Peter. Peter also purchased 50 acres from William Rogers, Freetown (code 82).

This land (125 acres) was passed on to his son Charles, who later sold it to Joseph Reeves, Freetown is now in possession of Cobi Foods Incorporated, Bedeque.

William Deighan was b. 1835 in Ireland. He m. Annie Goodwin and she 01. in 1914. They are bur. in ames R.C. Cem. in Summerfield.

William and Annie (Goodwin) Deighan had nine children, surname Deighan, all b. in Freetown.

Peter Deighan Peter Deighan owned a farm of 125 acres on the Main Freetown Road (see code part 82, 83, 84). He

and farmed here until his death. He was a prosperous farmer.

Peter was b. 12 Feb. 1872. He m. Theresa Hughes in Jan. 1900. She was b. Apr. 1877, the daughter of

James and M. (Whalen) Hughes. Peter d. 30 Apr. 1960 and Theresa d. in Apr. 1968.

Peter and Theresa (Hughes) Deighan had seven children all b. in Freetown and surname Deighan.
