the railroad built a home in Freetown for the agent in 1900. When they lived in the station house they also built a small barn where they kept two cows, pigs, some hens and a horse. During the summers, they would put the sleigh in and leave the wagon out. Winters, they would put the wagon in and leave the sleigh out. Lorne Driscoll relates that in 1923, the sleigh was taken out and the wagon put away for the winter in October. He also relates that in the winter of 1907 they had a huge amount of snow followed by about two days of rain and real cold weather. This caused extreme difficulty in moving the snow and the trains did not get through for about two weeks. The Driscoll family of ten children were all b. in Freetown. They were devout Roman Catholics and attended Mass regularly in Summerfield.

Michael P. Driscoll was b. at Cape Traverse, 18 May 1869. He m. Georgina McIver at Kinkora, on 31

Jan. 1899. She was b. at Newton, on 5 June 1871. Michael died 29 July 1934 at the age of 65 and Mrs. Driscoll died on 27 Feb. 1956 at the age of 84 years.

William Charles b. 8 June 1900. He (1. 16 Jan. 1902.

Mary Kathleen b. 28 July 1901. She assisted her father at the station and was a bookkeeper for Austin A. Scales for many years. She m. Aloysuis Greenan, Kinkora, where he still resides. They have no family. Kathleen d. 8 Dec. 1984.

Emily Francis b. 2 Dec. 1902. She moved to BC. and m. Cecil J. Monaghan a native of Kellys Cross in 1929. He was a smelter and worked at the mines. They had four children: Georgina, Charles, John and Mary. Cecil is now deceased. Emily passed away 27 Sept. 1985.

Mary Faustina b. 28 Aug. 1904. Sister Georgetta resides in Minneapolis Minn.

John Sutherland b. 8 Feb. 1907. He was active in many sports in Freetown and other places where he lived. He was a goal keeper in hockey and played baseball. He attended St. Dunstan’s University and became a public school teacher and taught in a number of schools in Eastern Prince County; n.m., he d. 10 June 1972.

Georgie Margaret b. 8 Sept. 1908. She attended college and became a public school teacher. She taught in several schools in this area including Summerside High School. She is now retired and resides in

Summerside; n.m. Mary Florence b. 2 May 1910. Florence resided in Summerside; n.m., she d. 28 Aug. 1984.

M. Joseph Lorne b. 4 July 1912. He m. Louise LeBlanc on 27 Apr. 1942. She was b. 19 Dec. 1919. Lorne resides in Summerside where he carries on a successful produce and coal business. He owns several parcels of land in Sherbrooke and other parts of Prince County which he farms. He is also
