STANLEY EVANS

Stanley Evans emigrated from England and relates that he was seasick all the way over on the boat. He spent three weeks on the seas due to breakdowns and dodging icebergs. He said that he has no desire to travel on a boat again.

He and his mother and father settled in Bideford where they worked at the “Richards”. He later moved to Centreville, Bedeque and following a stay there, moved to Central Bedeque.

In April 1932, he and Oressa moved to Freetown and carried on the farming operation for R. Brewer Auld who took on a school inspectorship.

Stanley Evans was b. in Bristol, Eng. 3 Dec. 1903. He came to P.E.1. in Mar. 1910. On 29 Dec. 1926 he m. Edna Oressa Moore, daughter of Albert and Ida (MacArthur) Moore of Victoria West. She was b. 31 Dec. 1901. They had one daughter Edna b. Oct. 1928. She m. Lorne Reeves, Lower Freetown, 26 Aug. 1948.

Edna Oressa d. 15 Apr. 1935 at Freetown and is buried in Victoria West United Church Cem.

Stanley left Freetown in 1948 and moved to Ross’ Corner, with Lorne and Edna, where he resides in 1984.

Lorne and Edna (Evans) Reeves have two sons: 1. Ross, b. 24 Dec. 1948. 2. Gordon, b. 24 Aug. 1954. (See Reeves history.)

WILLIAM FARRIS

William Farris and his family came to Freetown ca. 1963 and lived there for several years before returning to Wilmot Valley.

William Farris was b. 16 June 1921 in Kentville, N.S. He m. Evelyn Jean MacDonald of Tyne Valley. She was b. 24 July 1925. They moved to Wilmot Valley ca. 1955. Jean d. 24 Aug. 1964. They were Jehovah Witnesses.

William and Jean (MacDonald) Farris had the following children surname Farris.

2a Mary Kathleen b. 1 Feb. 1946 in Amherst, N.S. She m. Urban Gallant. They live on the Taylor Road in North Bedeque. They have three daughters: Susan, Crystal and Heather. (See Gallant history.)

2b William Peter b. 29 Dec. 1947 in Kentville, N.S. He m. Mary Gillis, Travellers Rest, 18 Aug. 1970. They live in North Bedeque. They have one child, Gerret b. 21 Aug. 1981.

2c Linda Gail b. 20 Aug. 1949. She is single and is a bookkeeper with Shoppers Drug Mart, Summerside. She lives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farris.

2d John Austin b. 17 Oct. 1950 in Summerside. He m. Lynn Pidgeon, Kensington, 5 Sept. 1974. They have two children: Sherry Lynn and Edward Kenneth. They live in Wilmot Valley. He works with

MacQuarries Transfer, Summerside East.

2e Sandra Lee b. 9 Feb. 1954. She m. Marvin Stavert, Freetown where they live. They have one son, Marvin b. 26 Sept. 1979. (See Stavert history.)

2f Ronald Edward b. 22 Mar. 1956. He m. 1. Donna Fyfe in Dec. 1973 (parted) m. 2. Donna Reeves, 3 July 1983. They have one child, Jenna Jean b. 7 Jan . 1984.

2g Elmer Robert b. 2 Aug. 1957. He m. Dianne Perry, Summerside 3 Dec. 1983. They have one child, Angela, b. 27 Sept. 1984.

2h Karen Heather b. 31 Mar. 1959. She m. Andrew Coolen, 17 Apr. 1975. They have two children: Rachel and Daniel. Andrew is with the CAR now stationed in Germany.

LIDYD FARQUHARSON

Lloyd Farquharson moved to Freetown in Dec. 1965 where he did some renovations on the S. Barlow Bird house before his wife Jennie, daughter, Valerie, and young baby Daniel moved in Feb. 1966. They resided in that house until 1970 when they moved to the house formerly owned by Austin A. Scales located immediately south of the site where Freetown Railway Station was prior to its removal. Lloyd is employed on a seasonable basis with the RBI. Department of Highways and Jennie is a Supervisor of the Admitting and Outpatient Department of the Prince County Hospital.
