+ 2a Arthur Gardiner Arthur C. Gardiner was a mixed farmer but he was best of all an ardent horseman. Arthur was an importer of western horses and he made at least three trips to to bring western horses to P.E.I. The first year he brought one carload containing twenty or twenty-one horses, the second and third year he brought two carloads. There was no stock yard at Railway Station so the horses had to be driven on the road from the station to the Gardiner farm directly from the railway car. On one occasion, two of the horses strayed and were found the next day on a Middleton farm. Arthur was also a horse racing enthusiast and was a regular attendant at horse races at P.E.I , racetracks. He took over the complete operation of the farm after his father's death. He and his brother, Monty, owned the farm in Central Bedeque that was originally owned by William Schurman , Loyalist , later by William's son, Isaac. This land borders on the Dunk River . He was a victim of a tractor accident at Freetown 14 Dec. 1957 and passed away at 15 years of age. 4b 3b2a Carla b. 24 July 1946. She m. Gerald Lester on 20 Mar. 1964 in Freetown . They have two children: 1. Terri b. 22 Oct. 1964. 2. Dean b. 24 May 1969. They live in Kitchener, Ont. + 3c 2a Monty b. at Northam 7 June 1912 and was 4 years old when his parents moved to Freetown . Monty farmed at Central Bedeque and now resides at Ross' Corner . 4a 3c2a Elta b. 2 Mar. 1940. She m. Wendell Waite on 30 Mar. 1959. They live in Linkletter . Wendell is a druggist and is the manager of Waites Pharmacy in Summerside . 4b 3c2a Russell b. 18 Nov. 1942. Russell owns and operates a mill at Ross' Corner and also manages a trucking business. He m. June Nicholson 4 Mar. 1972. Russell and June reside at Ross' Corner . June is employed at Canada Employment Centre in Summerside . + 3d 2a Marjorie b. at Northam 14 Nov. 1914. She attended school in Lower Freetown . She m. John Langlands , 31 Aug. 1942. They had four children. John was an electrician. He passed away 25 Oct. 1983 in B.C . where they resided. 4a 3d2a Arthur b. 12 Jan. 1944. He was drowned in B.C . 30 June 1952. 4b 3d2a Jean b. 19 Apr. 1945. 4c 3d2a Frances b. 11 Dec. 1950. She m.
