+2k Marshal b. 1890. He m. Ella Smith, Newton. She was b. May 1897. Marshal d. Mar. 1937. After Marshal’s death, Ella m. Wilbert Lawless ca. 1954 and she d. 1966.

+2k Marshal Hughes Fifty acres of the farm was deeded by James Hughes to his son Marshal in Oct. 1918. Later, Marshal

received the balance of the farm. Marshal and Ella (Smith) Hughes had seven children, all b. in Freetown.

3a 2k Gerald b. 10 Aug. 1922. He farmed for a few years, then he sold the farm. He moved to Toronto where he worked for the C.N.R. He is now retired.

3b 2k Mabel b. 13 Jan. 1923. She m. Peter Perry and resided in Summerside. Peter (1. 1965. Mabel has been employed at The Sanitation Services in RC. Hospital for many years. They had three children:

1. Myrtle m. Wilfred McCardle. He died. 2. Edward is m. and lives in London, Ont. and has one child. 3. Marsha m. Larry Hardy, Summerside. They had one child and are now separated.

3c 2k Elsie (a twin) b. 11 July 1926. She m. Edwin Smith ofMiddleton. They moved to Toronto and have no children.

3d 2k Marjorie (a twin) b. 11 July 1926. She m. Earl Clow, Emerald. Earl worked for Simmons and MacFarlane Ltd. for many years. They have a family of five children: 1. Donna, b. 17 June 1952; m. Fred Mclver of Newton. They have three children. 2. Marshal, b. 17 Sept. 1953. He m. Helen Van Vliet of North Carleton and have two children. He lives in Nine Mile Creek and works with Pickard’s Machinery, Charlottetown. 3. Kevin b. 21 Jan. 1956; n.m. Lives in Charlottetown and works at Agriculture Research Station. 4. Joseph b. 15 Mar. 1957 m. Rita Sherry of Fernwood and resides in Nine Mile Creek. They have no children. He works for Atlantic Warehousing Ltd. 5. Darlene b. 25 Aug. 1963; n.m.

3e 2k Ernest b. 16 Apr. 1929; n.m. He resides in Toronto and is employed with Sieberling Tire Co.

3f 2k Irene b. 30 Apr. 1930; m. James Lahey. They resided in Oakville Ont. and have four children. James (1. ca. 1974.

3g 2k Florence b. 26 Apr. 1932. She m. Lloyd Reeves. They had ten children. She taught school in Upper Freetown. (See Reeves history.) In 1985 she m. 2. James Rooney and lives in Summerside.

CHARLES HYDE

Charles Hyde married Alice Wright, daughter of John T. Wright and Jane (Schurman) Wright on 14 Mar. 1848. Other records show the license to have been issued 7 Mar. 1849 with the marriage taking place 13 Mar. 1849.

Charles m. 1. Alice Wright and lived in Hampshire. He was frequently away working and Alice, delicate,

since childhood and wearied from doing the chores around the farm became ill and developed consumption. Discouraged, she left Hampshire and her husband and returned to her father’s home with her infant son. Some months later she gave birth to another child, a daughter. She lingered for about a year, died and was bur. in Lower Bedeque Cem. Her daughter passed away a year later. The boy remained in the home of his

grandfather. His name was John William Hyde.
