in Scotland. In 1849 Andrew most likely moved with his family to Freetown. Andrew’s father purchased two parcels of land (code 27) totalling 225.5 acres at Upper Freetown on the North Freetown Road. This land was willed to Andrew by his father in 1871 but Andrew was farming on the property prior to this date.

Andrew m. Catherine Lawless on 27 Aug. 1872 at North Bedeque. Catherine was the daughter of Captain Thomas and Mary (Miller) Lawless and was probably born in Norboro. Andrew and Catherine resided at the farm which Andrew occupied. They had the following children all born at Upper Freetown, surname J ardine.

Andrew was a Presbyterian and probably attended church at North Bedeque. At the age of 64, Andrew Jardine died on 9 Dec. 1883, leaving his wife with seven children under the age of 10. Andrew was a mixed farmer with cows, beef cattle, pigs and sheep.

Catherine (Lawless) Jardine m. 2. in May 1888, Leonard Affleck, a native of Mt. Stewart. Catherine d. on 1 Apr. 1915 at her home in Upper Freetown.

James Corrie Jardine was b. 13 March 1874. He farmed at Freetown with his family until about 1900. He was living at Summerside in 1901 and eventually operated “J ardine’s Bookstore” in that town. He also had a branch office in Kensington. He m. on 15 June 1904 Ida Mill (Sept. 24 1870—1913), dau. of John and Adeline S. (Creswell) Mill of Mill’s Point. They had five children all born at Summerside, surname Jardine.

4a 3a2b Ida Ruth b. 31 July 1905, m. Kenneth Graham of Nova Scotia in 1935. She died at Toronto, Ont. on 21 Oct. 1974. They had two sons.

4b 3a2b Ethel May b. 10 June 1907, m. 16 Nov. 1946 to Charles Henningson of Brooklyn, NY. She d. 14 July 1975 at Albany, NY. They had no children.

4c 3a2b James Hammond b. 7 Aug. 1909, and m. 14 Aug. 1948 to Shirley M. Martin a native of Chester, Vt. They reside at White River Junction, Vt. and have two children: James and Shona.

4d 3a2b Marion Adelle b. 17 Oct. 1910 and m. 4 Apr. 1931 to Captain William Irving Hayward a native of Rowley, Mass. They resided at Concord, Mass. and Marion continues to live there until the present

day (1985). They had two children: Ruth and Robert. 4e 3a2b Ernest Chapman. Birth date unknown, and he died an infant.

James lost his first wife in 1913 and he later m. 2. Edith B. Dalton of Brookfield, N.S. He became a

minister in the Congregational Church after moving to Windham, Vt. in 1924. He also served at Inverness, N.S., Quebec (Presbyterian) and Millerton, N.B. He d. on 1 Dec. 1932 at Millerton, N.B.

Isabelle was b. 6 Oct. 1875. She m. Samuel Frizzell, son of Robert and Emma Frizzell of Norboro, in June 1895. They farmed at Locke Road, Lot 8, after their marriage, where their three children were born; surname Frizzell.

4a 3b2b Andrew b. 4 Aug. 1896 m. Isabelle Gard on 16 Sept. 1927. Andrew and Isabelle farmed at Springfield West where they still reside. They have five children.

4b 3b2b Eleanor Catherine b. 7 Oct. 1898 and m. 19 Dec. 1917 to Henry Ward Beecher Graham, son of Daniel and Besshera (Grigg) Graham of Bloomfield. They moved to Rose Valley in 1921 where they operated a farm. She d. 28 Dec. 1980. They had nine children.

4c 3b2b Alexander Sterling b. 28 Mar. 1900 and m. Letitia M. Murray. They resided at Howlan, Knutsford, O’Leary, Springfield West and Jasper, Alta. They have ten children.
