Isabelle died on 30 July 1904 at Norboro, leaving her husband with 3 small children. Samuel m. 2 Christine Murray of Elmsdale in Sept. of 1906. He d. in 1952.

Janie was b. 1 Aug. 1878. She moved to the U.S.A. (probably Lawrence, Mass.) in 1896. She m. Ernest Pennel Webb, who was b. 5 Oct. 1876 at Tracy, NE. on 16 Apr. 1903. He was a cabinet maker. They had one child born at Lawrence, Mass.

4a .3de Vera Anatalie b. 26 Jan. 1912 and m. 26 Nov. 1944 to Arthur John Mullen who was b. 3 June, 1909 at Lawrence, Mass. She was a bookkeeper and housewife at Windsor Locks, Conn., U.S.A.

+3e2b Benjamin Douglas Jardine

Douglas was b. 14 May, 1880 at Upper Freetown. He farmed with his brother William Hope Jardine until his marriage on 19 Dec. 1906 to Florence Annie Reeves, daughter of Charles (1832-1899) and Caroline (Beals) Reeves. She was b. 29 May 1882 at Freetown. They farmed at Upper Freetown (on code 27) on the North Freetown Road. Douglas operated a mixed farm and kept foxes. He was an elder of Freetown Presbyterian Church and a trustee of the Upper Freetown School Board. He died at Freetown on 20 Jan. 1930 as the result of blood poisoning from a kidney disorder. His wife d. on 15 Mar. 1974 at the Wood’s Nursing Home in Charlottetown.

They had three children, surname Jardine, born at Upper Freetown. 4a 3e2b Benjamin Douglas b. 27 Aug. 1910 and d. 18 Dec. 1910 at Upper Freetown. +4b 3e2b Andrew Manzer b. 22 July 1912. +4c 3e2b Florence Hazel b. 8 Feb. 1916.

Andrew was b. 22 July, 1912 at Upper Freetown. He attended the district school and then started to farm on property (code 27) in Upper Freetown. Andrew assumed the responsibility for the farm after his father’s death in 1930.

He m. 8 July, 1938 Marion Evedna MacLennan, daughter of Murdock Hugh and Elizabeth Davison (Biggar) MacLennan of Glen Valley. Andrew took an interest in the betterment of agriculture and farming. He served as the Prince Edward Island Director of the Holstein-Freisian Association for Canada and President of the Prince Edward Island Branch of the same association. Andrew served on the executive of the Prince Edward Island Federation of Agriculture and was president of the Prince Edward Island Silver Fox Breeders Association. Andrew was also active in community affairs of Freetown taking an interest in the operation of the local school, being trustee during the erection of the new Upper Freetown School in 1948.

Andrew and Marion were both active in Freetown Presbyterian Church. Andrew was an elder and superintendent of the Sunday School. Marion was a deaconess in her church and also taught Sunday School. Marion was Superintendent of the Protestant Family Children’s Home in Mount Herbert for four years.

On Dec. 1968 Andrew, Marion and family sold their Freetown farm and moved to Union Road in East Royalty where they now reside. They had four children surname Jardine.

5b 4b3e2b Hazel Adele b. at Upper Freetown 2 Feb. 1940. Adele attended Union Commerical College, Charlottetown for secretarial training. She currently resides in Toronto, Ont. where she is employed as an executive secretary for the Vice-Chairman of the Bank of Montreal for Canada.

Douglas was b. at Summerside in 7 Mar. 1939. Douglas grew up on his father’s farm in Upper Freetown (code 27). Douglas m. on 24 June, 1961, Eleanor Jane MacEwen who was b. 10 July, 1941 at Summerside. Douglas and Eleanor farmed with his parents at Upper Freetown until 1968 when they moved to Union Road, East Royalty. They currently operate a dairy farm in conjunction with Douglas’ father. They have three

children. Surname Jardine.
