+ 2m Henry Jardine

Henry was b. at the Head of Hillsborough in 1840. He moved with his parents to Freetown in 1849. Henry liked to visit amongst his relatives. He spent several winters with his brother George in Hardwood Ridge, NE. and also lived with his nephew George J ardine, Freetown, and his niece Margaret Jane Taylor, Mt. Stewart. He kept horses for his nephew-in—law, Dr. Charles Hazelwood of St. John, NB. Henry purchased a farm at Lower Freetown (code 122) in 1878. He carried on for a few years and then sold the farm.

Henry died suddenly of a heart attack at Mt. Stewart, while visiting with his niece, Margaret Jane Taylor, in 1920.

JOHN JARDINE

John J ardine was born about 1793 at Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland and was the son of Alexander J ardine. John J ardine emigrated to P.E.I. about 1820 and eventually settled in the Bedeque-Searletown area. He m. Jane Bell, a native of Scotland.

John Jardine was a carpenter and farmer. He did not own land prior to his death on 20 July 1856 at Searletown. His widow was conveyed 100 acres of land on Lot 27 on 15 Mar. 1858 from James C. Pope and his wife. She died early in 1884.

John and Jane Jardine had at least nine children surname Jardine (not necessarily in order of birth).

2a Margaret b. 25 Dec. 1820. She m. on 26 Feb. 1841, James Burns of Freetown. (See Burns history.) After the death of her first husband she m. 2. on 16 Jan. 1859, William Tucker (1811-1909). Margaret d. in 1905.

2b Barbara E. b. about 1821. She m. 1. Joy Best from the Crapaud area. m. 2. John Crockett b. Sept. 1882. (See Best history.)

+2c James b. about 1824. He m. Elizabeth Ann Reeves of Freetown. 2d Jane b. about 1828. she m. Duncan Cameron and they lived in the Cape Traverse area. She d. 3 Jan. 1897.

2e John b. about 1830. He m. Emily Stordy. They moved to Ontario shortly after their marriage. 2f Donald b. about 1830; n.m. and d. 1 Feb. 1863 at Searletown. 2g Mary b. about 1832. She m. Albert McAlvin and lived in the Cape Traverse area. She d. 19 May 1893.

2h Alexander. Few details are known about him. He was living when his mother published her will on 26 Dec. 1876.

2i William b. about 1841; n.m. and d. 15 Feb. 1862 at Searletown.

+2c James Jardine

James Jardine was b. on P.E.I. in the 18205. His place of birth is unknown but was probably in the Freetown area. He m. Elizabeth Ann Reeves, dau. of Simon and Sarah (Taylor) Reeves of Freetown in 1846. She was b. at Freetown.

On 23 Sept. 1851 James purchased 50 acres of land at Freetown (code 35 east side). It is not known for sure if they occupied this property because they apparently moved to Old Orchard, Me. about this time. The property remained in his possession until his death prior to 1872 at Old Orchard, Me. His wife Elizabeth then returned to P.E.I. with her three sons.

3a 2c Thomas b. 1847 on P.E.I. He m. 1. Hannah Bears, m. 2. Lucy Bears, who were sisters. He had at least five children.

3b 2c John b. 14 May 1849 on P.E.l. He m. on 14 Mar. 1870 Jane Bears. a sister to Hannah and Lucy. They lived at Brooklyn, Kings Co., where they raised a family of at least nine children.

+3c 2c Christopher b. 2 July 1851, possibly at Freetown.

+3c2¢ Christopher Jardine Christopher J ardine was b. on P.E.l. and during many of his early years probably lived in Old Orchard,

Me. Christopher returned to RBI. and apparently located in the Freetown area where he lived with his Uncle David Reeves. Christopher m. ca. 1875 Annie Clow b. 14 Aug. 1855, the daughter of Samuel and Jane Clow

of Freetown. Annie d. after the birth of their first child in 1877. 4a 3c2c Ann b. 1 Jan. 1877 at Freetown. m. James Bears. They resided at Athol, Mass.
