They purchased a plot of land at Freetown from his brother-in-law, Frank Reeves in March 1917 (code 39). Jack was a carpenter and built his own house and barn. He kept a horse, cow, hens and a few pigs. On 20 Mar. 1947, Jack was hired to build the new Upper Freetown School building. His nephew, Russell J ardine of Murray Harbour, assisted him.

Jack sold asphalt shingles for many years and he and his wife Florrie were mail couriers on a rural route through the Freetown area. This was done by horse and wagon in summer, and horse and sleigh in winter. Jack and Florrie attended Freetown Presbyterian Church.

Jack and Florrie moved to Charlottetown in 1945. After Florrie’s death on 26 June 1955 J aek lived at Cross Roads, and at 501 Queen St., Charlottetown prior to his death there on 4 Mar. 1977.

John and Florence Jardine had two daughters b. in Freetown.

5a 4h3c2c Georgie b. 12 Nov. 1920. She m. Donald Seaman of Charlottetown. They currently reside at Charlottetown and have one daughter, Lynn.

5b 4h3c2c Ruby b. 28 June 1922. Upon completing her education she obtained a position with Davis and Fraser Ltd. in Charlottetown (later Canada Packers). Later she moved to the Charlottetown Polyclinic. In 1949 she m. Dr. Lorne Bonnell MD. of Murray River. Dr. Bonnell entered the political realm and became a Liberal M.L.A. and M.P. He was appointed a Senator and currently serves in the Canadian Senate. Ruby d. at Murray River on 17 Dec. 1979. Ruby and Lorne had two children b. at Murray River: Mark L. and Linda.

MRS. BREWER JOHNSON Mrs. Johnson moved to Freetown in 1964 and lived on a lot near her son-in—law, Robert Jardine Sr. She resided there until 1973, when she moved to Summerside where she has lived ever since.

She moved to Bedeque in 1917, and worked in Callbecks tailor shop as a seamstress. Brewer operated the Bedeque-Summerside Ferry before taking up fox ranching and garage mechanic work.

Ida May was b. in O’Leary 26 May 1898, a daughter of Alexander Ervin and Laura (Moreshead) Johnson. She m. Waldon Brewer Johnson, son of Thompson and Emma (Weir) Johnson, 8 June 1918. He was b. 21 May 1893. He d. 30 July 1964 and is bur. in Freetown Peoples Cem.

Brewer and Ida (Johnson) Johnson had one child, Florence Blanche b. 17 Sept. 1919. She m. Robert S.P. Jardine. (See J ardine history.)
