+ 3a2k Mattie Taylor Lewis Mattie Taylor b. 14 July 1889, in South Freetown . She m. Donald Ellsworth Baker , son of Joseph and Catherine (Gillis) Baker, 7 Sept. 1910. Don farmed for some years in South Freetown , then moved to Summerside . He became manager of the Produce Dept . of RT. Holman Ltd . He d. 2 Mar. 1953. Mattie stayed on in Summerside until her eyesight failed, then went to live with her daughter, Janet, in Vancouver, for three or four years. She d. 14 Apr. 1977, in Vancouver. They are bur. in the People's Cem. Summerside . (See Baker history.) + 3b2k Sarah Mary Lewis Sarah Mary (Sadie) b. 26 Mar. 1896, in South Freetown . She m. Fred Lemuel Hooper , son of Allison and Bessie (Moyse) Hooper, 1 Jan. 1918. They lived in Searletown , in a house by the family mill, on a branch of the Dunk River . Fred assisted his father in the operation of the steam sawmill. After it burnt, they rebuilt and converted to a water-powered sawmill. They sold it in 1939 and moved to Summerside . Later they moved to Toronto . Fred was foreman at G.S. Blakeslie Machine Shop . Sadie worked in the Millinery Dept ., in Simpson's store. Their speciality was designing hats. Every hat was an original model. When they returned to P.E.I. , they lived in Hunter River . Fred had a little shop where he did wood-turning. They moved to Pownal . Fred ran the General Store and Sadie was Post-mistress. Later, they moved to Charlottetown . Sadie did nursing at Livingstone and MacArthur Nursing Home and later gave nursing care at the home of a patient. They retired and moved to Kensington where Fred d. 19 Apr. 1966. Sadie went to live in Summerside . She d. 12 Feb. 1970. They are buried in the People's Cem. in Freetown . They had two ch. surname Hooper. 4a 3b2kMarjorie Louise b. 21 Mar. 1920; m. Delbert Rayner , 18 Oct. 1941. Delbert is a retired fruit and vegetable inspector. They run a camping park on their land by the shore, in New Annan . Marjorie's interest is needlework. Arthur Blanchard , 12 Jan. 1949. Muriel went to Toronto in 1941. She worked there for five years and returned to the Island in 1946. She now works in Summerside . She is skilled at doing all forms of needlework. Art worked with Walter Simmons . He is now in a nursing home. Muriel lives in New Annan . They have one ch. surname Blanchard, Sarah Elizabeth b. 26 Oct. 1951. She has worked in Calgary, Alta. and in Summerside . She lives in Linkletter . + 3d2k Marion Enid Lewis Enid was b. 19 Aug. 1914 in Freetown . She was the dau. of Joseph and Mary Ann (Deacon) Lewis. She attended Freetown school, then went to Summerside to take her nurse's training at the Prince County Hospital, graduating in 1937. She did private duty in the hospital as well as in the homes. She m. John Clayton Thomas , son of Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas , Tryon , in Sept. 1941. They lived in Tryon on the farm. They sold the farm later and moved to North Tryon . After an absence of fourteen years, Enid resumed nursing at the hospital. She was fifteen years on staff and then did relief work, for a total of thirty years. Enid, being a friendly, out-going type of person brought much brightness and cheer to her patients. She retired in 1979. On Nov. 1977, a fire destroyed their home and all its contents. Clayton received 3rd degree burns to his leg, which required a lot of hospitalization and treatment. They are now living in a trailer home in North Tryon . Some of Enid's best memories of Freetown are the Christmas days spent together, as a family, at her Uncle George Jardine 's, and at her Uncle Frank Deacon 's. Wayne has his own business selling smoke alarms. 4b 3d2k Lowell Edwin b. 18 Feb. 1944; m. Nancy Welling . Ch.: Kimberley and Jennifer . Lowell is an inspector with the R.C.M.P.
