William "Billie" Matthews William "Billie" was raised in Freetown and went to school in the local school. He worked with the farmers in the area for several years and then went to the Toronto area. William was a son of Ernie Matthews, a brother of Samuel Matthews . Ernie Matthews m. Annie Swallow of Charlottetown . William "Billie" now lives in the Toronto area and is m. He has a good position and is noted for his ability to sketch and draw. His wife is active in the real estate business. They have a family. TIMOTHY MAXFIELD The Maxfield family probably arrived on P.E.I , as early as 1818. Richard Maxfield brought his wife Ann, and three children: John, Mary and William, from the County of York in England , to P.E.I , and settled in the Bedeque area. In due time, Timothy Maxfield , son of John Maxfield , and grandson of Richard Maxfield , obtained land (code 124) from William Clark on the Old Malpeque road in Lot 26. Timothy, son of John and Hannah ( Appleton ) Maxfield, was b. 1803 in Alne, Youlton, York , England ; d. 1867 in P.E.I. ; m. Margaret________, and had five children, all b. in Freetown . + 2a Charles Clark b. 14 Sept. 1837; d. 29 Dec. 1918; m. Sibella Cairns, dau. of William and Ellen (Stewart) Cairns. 2b Edmund Crosby b. 7 Dec. 1842; d. 1923; bur. in Cascumpeque United Church Cem .; m. 22 May 1872 Eliza Moore of Crapaud . Edmund was a blacksmith by trade, and had a shop on his farm in Lower Freetown . Soon after his marriage, Edmund and Eliza moved to Fortune Cove , and their five children were all born there.
