Douglas took over the farm from his father Allison. In 1965 he and Wendell Bernard formed a farming partnership, known as Bernard and Profitt Farms. They had taken over their father’s farms and Wendell had purchased his Uncle John Paynter’s farm, which was formerly owned by CD. Taylor (code 47 and part of code 14). In 1969, they formed a company and incorporated. The next year they bought the farm from Lloyd Reeves (code 6) that was formerly owned by Wendell’s grandfather, D.M. Bernard. This purchase brought their holdings up to 625 acres. The company continued to operate for several years when Douglas withdrew from the company and began a trucking business. In 1984 Douglas operates a Shell Oil Truck out of Simpsons Fuels Ltd. in Summerside. He is also an Amway distributor, being one of the first in the province.

EDWARD RAFFERTY
Edward (Bud) Rafferty moved to Freetown in 1979 and settled on a lot just north of South Freetown School (code 104). He is employed with C.N. Marine at Borden.
Edward was b. 1 Oct. 1924 in Emerald. He m. Joan Jones, Emerald. They raised five children all b. in Emerald, surname Rafferty.
2a Allan b. 3 Sept. 1949. He m. Rea Goddyn, Breadalbane. Separated. 2b James b. 23 Jan. 1951. He m. Emma Greenan and they have one child, April b. 22 June 1979.
2c Barry b. 18 Aug. 1952. He m. Heather Morrison, Breadalbane. They have two children: 1. Bethany Ann b. Feb. 1979. 2. Paula Lee b. Nov. 1984.
2d Charlene b. 12 Jan. 1956. She m. Wayne Reeves, 28 Apr. 1973. They live east of South Freetown School on the Nodd Road (code 104). (See Reeves history.)

Peter Ramsay came to Freetown around 1927 and worked for Austin A. Scales. He lived in the house south of the railroad station.
Peter was b. in Kildare and m. Myzie Coughlin of the same area. They had a large family.
Amos b. 1916 was the oldest and m. Miss Cahill and live in Alberton. They have fifteen children: Vera b. 1918 m. James Smith, they have five ch. Jimmie b. 1919. He served in World War II and was killed overseas. Amos, Vera and Jimmie attended school in Freetown in 1927-28. Others in the family were Max, Art, Edna, Lillian, Fred, Albert, Bill, Lucille. Two d.y. and Budd was b. in Freetown in 1930. He m. Marion Gallant, they have a family and live in Summerside.
COLIN ANTHONY RAYNER Colin Rayner emigrated to P.E.I. from England ca. 1982. He is the manager of the RBI Mushroom
plant located in Lower Freetown. He resides in a farm house on the south side of the main Freetown Road (east side of code 58) the house was the farm home of the late Russell McCarville.
Colin was b. in Formby Lanes, England, 16 June 1955. He m. Lynda Elizabeth Gerrard of Liverpool, England 14 Aug. 1976. She was b. 2 May 1957.
Colin and Lynda (Gerrard) Rayner have two children, surname Rayner. 2a Carla b. 13 Nov. 1979 in Southport, England. 2b Daniel b. 9 Apr. 1981 in Southport, England.
