DAVID ROGERS

David Rogers was eight years old when he arrived in P.E.I. with his father Jonah, mother, Anna Thomas, and his five brothers and sisters. They had landed in Pugwash, N.S. in the spring of 1839, but due to the illness and death of his grandfather, David Rogers on 24 Sept. 1839, it was late in the season when they reached the Island. Jonah built his cabin at the foot of Green’s Hill, where the Crossman farm is today. The first winter, Jonah used slabs of ice from the Dunk River marsh for his cabin windows.
