JOSEPH ROGERS Joseph Rogers , b. 1833 in Carmathen, Wales , came with his parents and family to P.E.I , in 1839 and settled in Bedeque . A brother, David, was the owner of Rogers Mills in South Freetown . Joseph m. 1. Sarah Hall , dau. of Jonathan and Jane (Ramsay) Hall. They had one dau., Anna who m. Russell S. Burns . Sarah d. 1877. Joseph m. 1. Isabelle Ross Hyde , dau. of Rev. Ross of North River . Isabelle d. 1900. Joseph farmed in Bedeque and in his latter years went to live with his dau. Anna in South Freetown where he d. 1916. He is bur. in Lower Bedeque Cem. THOMAS ROGERS Thomas Rogers and his wife of Kilkampton, , Devon, England came to the Isle of Saint John via the Yeo ships and landed at . They settled in Freetown ca. 1840. The earliest record indicates that his son William purchased 50 acres and buildings (code 36) on 27 July 1845 from Donald Montgomery . They operated the farm until their demise, when their son, William, took it over. Thomas was b. 1795 and m. Mary Boundy in England . She was b. 1789. Francis II McCarville of Freetown . 2c Thomas fought for the Union Army in U.S. Civil War, at Gettysburg 1861-65. 2d John was b. ca. 1838. He moved to the St. Eleanors area where he bought a farm near where Linkletter Beach is located in 1984. He m. Harriet Matilda Jelly , a daughter of George Jelly , who resided where Clarks Auto Centre is located. They had six children.
