William Rogers m. Bridget McCarville daughter of Francis 1 and Nancy (McGuire) McCarville. She was b. 1826 and d. 17 Nov. 1897 age 71. William d. 7 May 1915 age 95. They are buried in Freetown United Church Cem.

They had the following children, surname Rogers, all b. in Freetown.

3a 2a Mary Ann b. 12 Oct. 1849; n.m. She d. 8 Dec. 1888.

3b 2a Sarah Jane b. 8 Apr. 1852; n.m. She worked in the U.S. and returned to Freetown and lived with her sister Fanny and Jonah Lewis. She d. Mar. 1947.

3c 2a Eliza b. 5 Apr. 1854. She m. Frank Glydon, Margate. They had five children: Turner, Ethel, Clinton, Inez and Annie. Turner m. Ethel Fyfe and had four children: Olive, Clinton, Lorne and Anna. Inez m. George Corbett. Ethel m. Arthur Heaney. Clinton was n.m. and was killed in World War I. Annie m. Samuel Lane, Pownal and had two ch.

3d 2a Martha b. 11 Mar. 1856. She 111. Mr. Beach of Boston, Mass. and had one son, William.

3e 2a William b. 19 Apr. 1859; n.m. He moved to the U.S. at an early age.

3f 2a Fannie Augusta b. 27 Jan. 1863. She m. Jonah Lewis of Freetown and had two sons: John and Lloyd. (See Lewis history.)

3g 2a John Thomas b. 20 Dec. 1864. He m. Mary Jane Paynter daughter of Bernard Paynter of New London. They moved to Indian River and had four children: 1. Walter m. Lavina Mac Dougall and

had nine children. 2. William m. Lillian Simmons and had nine children. 3. Alice In. Wilfred Holmes and had two children. 4. Louis m. Florence Bassett and had five children.

+ 3h 2a Stephen b. 21 Apr. 1867. He m. Minnie Thompson of Margate. They had four children: William, Martha, Susie and Gracie.

3i 2a Eunice Rebecca b. 6 June 1869; n.m. Moved to the U.S. at an early age.

3j 2a Henry b. 28 June 1870. He stayed home and worked on the farm with the family. He (1. 27 Nov. 1927, age 57.

+3k 2a George A. b. 18 July 1872. He m. Mary Ann Paynter of Kensington and had two children: Ruth and Austin.

+3h2a Stephen Rogers

The 1880 Altas shows the property which Stephen Rogers owned on the Old Malpeque Road (code 121) as being owned by Jabez Arbing and consisting of 105 acres. Lakes map of 1863 indicates it was owned by CC. Maxfield.

Peter Schurman also owned this place and records show that he sold it to William Rogers in 1892. At Stephen’s death, the farm was passed on to his son, William. Stephen m. Minnie Thompson of Margate and they had the following children, surname Rogers.

+4a 3h2a William b. 27 Nov. 1899. He m. Marion T. Campbell in Sept. 1920. She was b. 20 Apr. 1900. They had two daughters: Dorothy and Evelyn.

4b 3h2a Martha went to the U.S. and died there.

4c 3h2a Susan b. 1894. She m. Hartwell Abbott of Malpeque. He was a fisherman, auctioneer and a switchboard operator. They had six children: 1. Leslie m. Kathleen Hillyard, England. They had one child, and were all killed in a car accident. 2. Roy m. Marion Cameron, St. John, NE. and live in Windsor, Ont. They have three children. 3. Marion (Molly) m. Charles Hogan, Summerside, and have two sons: Paul and Peter, both are married. Paul is a partner in a dental clinic in Truro, N.S. and has one son, Patrick. Peter is a student at Queen’s University. 4. Kentford (1921-1974) m. Clara MacDonald of Baltic. They have two children: Vicki and Diane. Clara now lives in Windsor, Ont. 5. Erma m. Sheldon Cameron now residing in Summerside. They have one daughter, Sheila m. to Raymond Bradshaw, Summerside, and they have four children. 6. Leonard m. Phyllis Cameron of St. John, NE. and now live in Ottawa, Ont. They have five children. Leslie, Roy, and Kentford Abbott served overseas in World War II and Leonard was in the Reserve Army.

4d 3h2a Gracie went to the U.S. and died there recently.
