William and Marion (Campbell) Rogers had two children. William d. 21 Mar. 1973 and Marion died 22 Jan. 1956. They are buried in Freetown People's Cem. They attended the United Church. Rogers inherited the family farm of three parcels of land and farmed them successfully during his lifetime. In 1917, they suffered a bad loss when their dwelling house was burnt down. They immediately got lumber out and arranged to build a new home. George m. Mary Ann Paynter of Kensington . She was b. 1873 the daughter ofWilliam and Jane (Caseley) Paynter. George d. 1957 and Mary Ann d. 1960. They are buried in Freetown People's Cem. They were affiliated with Freetown United Church. They had two children. 4a 3k2a Ruth Estelle Jane b. 29 Jan. 1905. She m. William Francis of Freetown and have three children: 1. Marjorie, Mrs. Burns Branch ; 2. Georgie, Mrs. Gordon Rix ; and 3. Jean, Mrs. Harvey Rix . Gordon was b. 10 Dec. 1939. They had one son, Austin b. 7 Oct. 1964. He resides at home in Mills Point . JAMES ROMMELS James Rommels came to Lower Freetown from the north side of the Island. He lived in a small house that was located on the south side of the main almost opposite Burns Chick Hatchery (1985) code 54. He used to peddle fish and work around among the farmers. He was a good honest fellow and very clean. James m. Agnes Arthur of Summerside and lived in Freetown for several years. Records reveal that he got books out of the Methodist Sunday School library in the late 1880s. MURDOCK ROSS Murdock Ross owned 90 acres on the main road in Lower Freetown (code 54) and 10 acs. on the North Freetown Road (code 1). He owned two parcels of land at Ross' Corner . Lome and Edna Reeves presently reside in the house where Murdock and Margaret lived. Another source says they lived where Peter Barwise resided. At any rate, Ross' Corner received its name in recognition of the Ross family. Murdock Ross , in addition to being a farmer, was a school teacher and a Justice of the Peace. He taught in both and Schools. Murdock was b. 1829. He m. Margaret Carruthers , North Bedeque . She was b. 1844 and d. 1914. Murdock d. 16 Aug. 1896.
