To Freetown from the Shannons When we came here in sixty-four, We had no idea what was in store. In a very short time we certainly learned, That this was the place we so often had yearned. Neighbours started calling in the friendliest way, “Welcome to Freetown” were the words they would say. Those words will always be dear in our hearts, From those who said them, how we hate to part.

There’s Cecil and Hazel, Robert and Jean.

No words can tell what leaving them means Colburne and Blanche, Alan and Annie.

Better neighbours than them will never find any. Fred and Lucy have always been ever so kindly

As a matter of fact so have Ev and Vinny

As for Cliff and Blanch, how can we ever repay. What a help they were when the Finnens were here to stay. Harold and Vivian, Mary and Elmer,

People like them, so nice to remember.

Of Wilna and George, Vinney and Garnet.

What can we say but will miss you by darn it. Walter and Joyce, Junior and Kaye

Always so pleasant to meet any day.

Lois and Elwood, Annie and Trueman

We’ll always remember and be glad we knew them. Austin and Mattie, Mae and the twins,

Knowing them we wish our stay wouldn’t end. Norma and Wyville, Clarence and Ruth.

Wonderful people! and that’s the truth.

The Perrys, The Jardines and the rest of the Reeves! How can we say how knowing them pleases.

The Burn’s, The Lewis’s, Basil Taylors too,

We are happy to say we’ve known all ofyou.

Good kids like Wendell and Caroline we can trust. To take good care of Basil and Margaret for us. One person we will all miss the most.

ltjust won’t seem right not to have Jack at our house. Billy and Johnny leave all their friends with regret.

Friends like Douglas and Gordon they will find hard to get. Marjorie hates to leave Freetown too, you may bet,

She wants to take Cyrus with us for a pet.

There are many more people I can’t even mention,

That hold our fond memories full at attention.

And now dear old Freetown it’s time to depart,

These words are sincere and right from the heart.

Living here among you all, was our pleasure.

Our memories of you we always will treasure.

Bill and Norma Shannon
