JACOB VAN BUSKIRK Jacob Van Buskirk was a Loyalist and took Susannah Townsend as his second wife. His first wife, Gertrude was determined to return to New York after she had spent a hard winter at Niagara in 1783 but Jacob could not go back under pain of death, so they separated. Jacob appeared before the Assembly of the Island asking for a grant of land in 1833, when he was age 84, although he lived to be 108, he did not get a grant.
