educated at local schools, Sydney Academy , Mount Allison University, and Divinity Hall, being ordained by the Maritime Con?? ference at Sackville, N.B. in June 1966. He served student fields in Alberta, and Loch Lomond, Marion Bridge , and Hood, N.S. He served in Bermuda from 1966-1969, and was minister of the York- Pastoral Charge from 1969-1976 when he moved to Nashwaaksis United Church, Fredericton, N.B. , 1976-1983; from October, 1983 he is minister at First United Church, Sydney , N.S. He received his degree of Master of Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology in 1983. Mr. MacDonald has served as Chairman of the Synod in Bermuda; as Chairman of Communications and of Tourist Ministry of the P.E.I. Presbytery ; as Secretary of the Pastoral Oversight of the Woolastook Presbytery, N.B. ; and as Chairman of the Long Range Planning for the Woolastook Presbytery. He is married to the former Katherine Cranston and they have four children: Matthew, Miriam, Ian and Timothy. The Rev. J. Elmer MacLean 1976-1981 The Rev. J. Elmer MacLean was born on November 1, 1927 in Lot 14, P.E.I. , the son of Stanley and Belle (Grigg) MacLean. He received his early education at Birch Hill School, and then worked in Ontario . Later he was manager of the hardware department of Brace - MacKay Ltd . in Summerside . He became actively involved in church work through Young People 's Union , and while working in Summerside , began serving as weekend supply at Pastoral Charge, Lot 16 . Following this, until his ordination, he served as lay or student supply at Alberton, P.E.I. , and , N.B . and Timberlea, N.S. Following two years of study at Mount Allison University, Mr. MacLean enrolled at Divinity Hall, graduating with his Diploma in Theology in 1966. That same year he was ordained by the Maritime Conference, and was settled in the Hunter River Pastoral Charge. In 1976 he accepted a call to the York- Pastoral Charge, where he was minister at the time of his sudden death on July 11,1981. In 1957, Mr. MacLean married Glenda Brown of . He is survived by her and by their three sons, John David , Donald and Dean. Actively involved in various Presbytery offices, he was Chairman of Pastoral Relations at the time of his death. He was a member of the Orange Lodge , a member of the Board of the Canadian Bible Society of P. E.I ., and was one of its past Chairmen.
