Hikes, swims, church parades and hockey games were some of the activities enjoyed, plus work for badges and stars. The first "Father and Son" banquet was held on February 22, 1963 at the Stanhope-Covehead Community Hall, with 60 in at?? tendance. Progress of the troop and pack was reviewed by Scout?? master Sheldon Jay and Cubmaster Ed Tupper . The District Com?? missioner, Hugh Lowry , of Marshfield spoke on the benefits of Scouting; he was thanked by Gordon Ellis . Grace was asked by Cub Lome Lawson and the toast to the fathers was proposed by Cub Jack Kipping and responded to by Harry MacLauchlan . The toast to the memory of Lord Baden Powell was proposed by Troop Leader Donald Ellis . The toast to the Women 's Institutes who are the sponsors of the troop and pack was proposed by Scout Blair MacLauchlan and responded to by Mrs. Bruce Ellis , chairman of the group committee. A short sing-song was conducted with Mrs. Warren Marshall at the piano. In July of 1963, nineteen of our Scouts and Cubs camped at under the leadership of Gail and Ed Tupper and Mrs. John Misener .
