Donald and James, who were married to Mallett sisters, Elizabeth and Emma respectively. Elizabeth died in 1899 after the birth of twin sons, one of whom, George, lived at the Point until his death on November 29, 1983. Elizabeth’s death prompted Donald, who brought up his young family with the help of his sister Catherine, to sell the hotel in 1900 to John and Helen Davies, for the sum of $2,500. It was're-named the “Cliff Hotel”, under which title it operated until 1930, when it was sold, under a mortgage default, to a group of Charlottetown
