In the spring of 1982 they closed down this business, selling the cottages, which were moved, one to Aubin Paquet in 1982 and three to Cecil MacLauchlan in 1983. Also on this road, "By the Bay Cottages " are owned and operated by Carol and Jay MacDonald, who bought the property in 1979 from Ernie Smith, who two years before had bought from Cecil Dowling . The land and cottages were owned previously by Sam (Salem) Korrey, who bought 3 acres of land from Rupert Ross , part in 1940 and part in 1953, the business being known as "Korrey's Cottages ". Next to "By the Bay" are "Country Tyme Cottages ", owned by Susan Martijn , who purchased 2 acres of land with 4 cottages from Gloria Walker in 1979-80. Mrs. Walker had operated this tourist business as "", having bought from Jean Helen Garnhum in 1967. At this time there were two cottages and a small utility building which Mrs. Walker converted into a third cottage, later (1971) moving a section of the farmhouse from the Brudenell Resort and making this into a fourth cottage. Number 3 cottage, the former utility building, was reputed to be originally a small old farmhouse. This land had been owned by Henry Curtis Lawson , and was part of the Dollery Farm. " Cottages ", owned and operated by Douglas and Faith McKenney, are also on the , but nearer the Point. The McKenneys bought two cottage lots from A Mr. Sutherland (see Shore Cottages ) in 1969, a further 1 acre from George MacMillan , and 2 lots with a cottage from Leo Rossiter in 1971, for a total of 1.7 acres. Six cottages were built in 1969-70, a further 2 added in 1971, and another 2 in 1973. In 1979, 3 cottages were moved here from St. Peter 's, for a total of 13 housekeeping cottages. Farther along the road, off Road, are the two "Highland Cottages ", owned by Anita Smith and Sterling Dennis; they bought a .3 acre from Hector MacDougall in 1980. In the village of itself are three tourist rental operations. Campbell's Tourist Home and Housekeeping Unit has been managed by Mrs. Doreen Campbell in her home since the spring of 1969, with two overnight units in the home and a separate ground floor apart?? ment. When accommodation was tight, to make room for tourists the two Campbell children, Debbie and Sandra , slept in the family car ??? a big adventure; later, they slept in the Campbell's travel trailer. On the same side (east) of the main Stanhope road is "Cameron's Lodge and Cottages ", operated by Bill and Heather Cameron, with one overnight unit in the Lodge and two cottages. Both of these last two establish?? ments are open year-round. On the other side of the are "MacLauchlan's Cottages " owned and operated by Harry and Marjorie MacLauchlan. In response 234
