of his death is not known but he was living in 1803 when he signed a petition to Sir James Montgomery to have James Curtis installed as

agent for Lot 34. Robert and Jean had nine children in all, and they are probably both buried in the Long Pond cemetery.

Robert had a lease dated August 1, 1787 from Montgomery for 200 acres of land in two separate parcels of 100 acres each, one fronting on

Mill Creek, extending west to the boundary line with Lot 33, and the other between Mill Creek and East Creek. The rent was £2 sterling for the first 10 years, £7.10.0 for the next 10, and £10 per annum for the rest of the 1000 year lease. Tradition has it that Robert Auld blazed the trail for the road from Stanhope to Charlottetown, the first road on the Island made by British settlers.

2. Jean, (Jane), b. ca. 1768 in Ayrshire, d. 1840, m. by Rev. Theophilus DesBrisay on 2 J an., 1788 to Murdoch MacLeod (b. Portree, Isle of Skye, ca. 1760, d. 17 Aug., 1813), farmer of Cove Head; moved by 1798 to Lot 48 with 6 c., probably 9 c. in all. It is said that Murdoch was a Major in the Army and came to the Island as a

Loyalist, with a grant of land at Orwell or Pinette. Both bur. Elm Avenue cemetery, Charlottetown.

3. William, b.?1770, d. at Bannockbum, m. 10 Oct., 1798 by Rev. Theophilus DesBrisay to Janet Millar, seventh and youngest dau. of John and Catherine (McIvor) Millar; she was b. 1778- 80. 9 c. William was a wheelwright and moved from the Auld property to Bannockburn.

4. Mary, b 1771 or2, d. 14 May, 1847. aet. 75, m. 28 Jan. 1801 by Rev. Theophilus

6. Robert Jr., b. 177?, m. ca. 1810 to Ann Brown (b. 1790, d. 15 Mar., 1867) dau. next to youngest of Lawrence and Jean (Jamieson) Brown. 6 c. Robert was a shoemaker and “lived at the mill”.

7. Isabella, b. 1779, d. 10 Mar., 1869 in Charlottetown in her 90th year, In. ca. 1813 as his 2nd wife to David Lawson (b. Stanhope in 1780 or 81, (1. there 9 Aug., 1860)
