Charlottetown. He first came to Canada in December, 1940 with the R.A.F., and came back to live in Canada in 1946.

Lillian’s mother’s great-grandfather Daniel Roberts came over from Suffolk, England to P.E.I. in 1832 on the Baltic; the voyage took six weeks. Daniel settled in what is now called Suffolk, naming it thus for his English home. His son Robert married Sarah Locke in 1848 and settled on the Winsloe Road; they had six sons: William, Robert, Richard, Samuel, John and Frederick.

Herbert and Lillian were married on April 17, 1943 and have one child Dorothy Elizabeth (b. 19 May, 1946). She married Donald Wilcox Johnston of Stanhope (b. 2 December, 1944) on October 11, 1971, and they have one daughter Michelle Elizabeth (b. 13 July, 1972). Donald was a fisherman, while DorOthy works for the Island Telephone and Telegraph Company. They lived in Charlottetown and after Donnie’s death by accident at Covehead Harbour on July 8, 1973, Dorothy and Michelle moved to Stanhope to the Baxter home on MacMillan Lane.

BEATTIE Alexander Beattie was born in 1832 and died in April 1882, the son of —_ Beattie and —_ Lawson. He was married

on 30 October, 1850 to Mary Shaw, daughter of Neil Shaw and his wife

Catherine Lawson; they had no children and she died at some time before 1860.

On 20 January, 1861 Alexander Beattie was married by the Rev. James Allan to Ann Lawson (born 1834), the daughter of James Lawson and his wife Ann Auld.

Alexander was a fisherman, and he and his family lived near Covehead Harbour, not far from the MacMillans; there were six

children. Later the family moved to West Covehead, near Marshall’s Pond.
