BUXTON

Charles J. Buxton was born on the 7 August, 1837 in Winsloe, P.E.I., the son of Edward Buxton and his wife Susanna Champness of Winsloe; he died on the 25 May, 1890 at Cape Traverse. He and his wife Sarah Rodd (b. 1842, d. 14 Nov., 1905, daughter of Edmund Rodd and his wife Elizabeth Young of Winsloe Road) came to Stanhope in 1877. They purchased 62 acres of land on the Bayshore Road from William David Lawson on the 22 December, 187 7 . Charles farmed this land for eight years, then sold it on the 6 April, 1885 to his brother George E. Buxton of Morell. Charles and his family moved to Cape Traverse where they ran a general store.

3. Fanny Ada, b. 1871, m. 12 June, 1888 to Herbert James Love of Charlottetown, children Colin, Eric, Edith, etc..

4. George Edward, b. 28 Nov., 1872, d. 25 Sept., 1950, m. 20 July, 1892 to Mary J. Webster of Augustine Cove (1871-1901), 3 c., Charles, Rita, Bertha. George later In. Minnie Rose Ramsay (31 Mar., 1888 - 23 July, 1945).

5. James Harry, b. 1880, m. 30 Oct., 1900 to Elizabeth Howatt of Cape Traverse, 4 dau.

George Edward Buxton, older brother of Charles above, was born in 1827 in England, the son of Edward and Susanna (Champness) Buxton of Winsloe, P.E.I. He and his Wife Catherine, born in 1834, bought 62 acres of land on the Bayshore Road in Stanhope from his brother Charles. George and family moved to Stanhope from the Milltown Road in Morell. He sold his 62 acres to George H. Kielly on the 1 May, 1896. The family may have moved back to the Morell area.
