Flora, b. 5 Feb., 1804 Theophilus thus lived in the country and rode horseback to Charlotte Town to attend to his ministerial duties. He also ministered to the people of Stanhope and Head, marrying and baptising residents of all denominations. The number of settlers' children named Theophilus after him bears witness to the high regard in which he was held. In 1801 he moved back to Charlotte Town with his family. Mr. DesBrisay was always polite and courteous, and a story is told of his later days, "that one day as he was coming down town along the wooden sidewalk, a brindle-faced cow was placidly approaching him in the opposite direction. When they met, the old Rector, whose sight was failing, ceremoniously removed his hat, stepped aside into the road with a bow to allow her to pass, then proceeded on his way." Did he perhaps take her for some lady of his acquaintance? Theophilus DesBrisay died on March 4, 1823, and is buried in the cemetery.
