hockey, and along with her sister Norma played baseball in every province of Canada in tournaments and Canada Games.
Through this era Bruce was also the local barber, from which stemmed many varieties of haircuts. The first T.V. in Stanhope was at Bruce’s and their home became the local theatre. Meanwhile, Beth was busy with family, home and community affairs.
The Ellis children all received their early education in Stanhope School about a quarter of a mile away.

1. Irene S., b. Dec., 1945, attended PWC, graduated with a secretarial course in 1965 and has worked with the RCMP ever since. In 1967 she married Charles
MacDonald; they have two daughters, Karla and Kendra, and live in East Royalty, P.E.I.
2. Donald B., b. Feb., 1947, attended PWC and UPEI, from where he graduated in 1971 with a Business Administration degree. He went to work with the Federal Government Income Tax Department in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where he worked for a year before returning to Charlottetown; he was employed as an auditor with the above Department until 1983, since when he has worked in the finance department of the DVA in Charlottetown. In August, 1971 he married Sandra Christine Lecky, RN, daughter of David and Theresa Lecky of Charlotte-
town. They have three children, Brett, Carolyn and David, and live on Parson’s Creek Drive, Stanhope.
4. D. Gordon, b. Mar., 1948, attended PWC and UPEI, from where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He returned to UPEI in 1971/72 to obtain his Bachelor of Education degree. He is presently Vice—Principal at East Wiltshire School, and is also busy writing his thesis for his MA. degree in Education. In June, 1972 he married Janice Craswell. RN, daughter of Merrill and Janet (Swan)
Craswell. They have three children, Craig, Mark and Alyson, and live on Parson’s Creek Drive, Stanhope.
4. Howard'L., b. Oct., 1949, attended PWC and UPEI, and in 1971 received his Bachelor of Science degree. During 1972/3 he attended the Nova Scotia Technical College and received his degree in Mineral Engineering. He went to Labrador City to work with 100 and from there moved on to Fort McMurray, where he now works with Syncrude Oil Co. He married Wanda J. Warren, daughter of Rhodes and Doris (Pickard) Warren of Stanhope; they have two sons, Dirk and Stephen, and live in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
5. Allison W., b. July, 1951, attended Charlottetown Rural High School, from where he went to Holland College and took an electronics course. He went to work with the Island Telephone Co. after graduation and is still employed with them. In August, 1980 he married Heather MacKay, daughter of William and Clare (Rae) MacKay of New Glasgow, N.S. Their son, Zachary, was born on February 1, 1983 and died on April 5, 1983, in Halifax, after open heart surgery.
6. W. Irwin, b. Sept., 1952, attended Charlottetown Rural High School, and after graduating went to Dalhousie University, Halifax from 1972 to 1975, and graduated with his Bachelor of Commerce degree. He managed a bakery in Charlottetown for some years and then went to work with Cooper Lybrand, Chartered Accountants, where he received his C.A. degree in 1980.
