beloved summer home, said, “Good-bye, Dalvay, I’ll never see you again”; he died later that year.
In November, 1912 Thomas and Anne purchased the Leitch “Glencorse” farm of 110 acres from Wallace Leitch; here the Horgans engaged in mixed farming and raised a family of ten children.
Thomas Horgan was a keen lover and expert judge of horses in his younger days he not only exhibited some of the best in the carriage class, but could also quote the names, owners, and track accomplishments of performers in the sulky. (The Evening Patriot, Dec., 1954). Owing to ill-health he retired from the farm in 1947, and lived in Charlottetown until his death on December 14, 1954. His wife Anne died on November 7, 1971; they are both buried in St. Eugene’s cemetery, Covehead Road.

1. Helena, b. 29 July, 1908, In. James A. MacDonald of Cherry Hill, 2 c., David and Anne. Helena got her teacher’s licence from Prince of Wales College; she taught at Grand Tracadie, Millcove and Cherry Hill.
2. James W., b. 14 Sept., 1909. A graduate of St. Dunstan’s University, he attended Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax, N.S. Following brain surgery, he died on 23 Aug., 1937.
3. Thomas, b. 3 Sept., 1911, d. 18 Dec., 1974. He worked in Charlottetown and St. John's, Nfld., and later moved to California; lived in Palm Springs and Los Angeles.
4. Michael, b. 15 Nov., 1912. He had been accepted into the R.C.M.P. at the time of his sudden death on 2 Sept., 1936, the result of a car accident.
5. John, b. 7 Oct., 1914, d. 8 Apr., 1982, m. Joyce McCarville, 1 son Michael. John attended Prince of Wales College, got his BA. from St. Dunstan’s U. in 1948,
taught at Stanhope, Peakes, Mount Stewart; Principal of Cardinal Leger School in St. Lament, Que. Retired to Sherwood in 1976.
6. Mary, b. 11 July, 1917, m. Allan G. MacDonald of Cherry Hill, lives in Charlotte- town. 5 c., Thomas, Allan, Charles, Lorraine, Terry. Mary attended Prince of Wales College, taught at Mount Stewart, Cardigan, St. Jean’s Elementary, Charlottetown.
7. Patrick, b. 4 Mar., 1920, m. 1 May, 1947 to Kathleen (Kay) Ryan of Sydney, N.S., (b. 12 Dec., 1925), dau. of Nathan and Victoria (Antle) Ryan. They live in Stanhope, 8 c., see below.
8. Estelle, b. 3 Dec., 1923, In. Wilfred B. MacDonald of Vernon River. They live in Parkdale; 8 c., Cecil, Michael, Wilfred, Regina, Paul, Maureen, John, Claudia. Estelle attended P.W.C., upgrading courses secured her R.N., was Supervisor of the Provincial Home for the Aged. Married 15 Aug., 1946.
9. Rita, b. 27 Mar., 1926, m. John Hennessey of Charlottetown. Lived in NS. and N.B., later returned to Ch’town. 4 c., Paula, Patricia, Sheelagh, John. Rita attended Prince of Wales College, taught at Millcove, Indian River; worked in the Royal Bank.
10. Joseph, b. 6 Nov., 1927, m. Bernadette Hughes of Charlottetown, 1 dau. Mary-Beth. Joseph is a bricklayer and mason, moved to Ch’town in 1947 with his parents.
