George William , b. 9 May, 1952, is a welder at Allan's Potato Handling Equipment, lives in Charlottetown , has "Bill's Welding" in Stanhope . 5. Maureen Elizabeth , b. 24 Dec, 1953, Charlottetown , m. to Donald Ruston . She attended a Holland College secretarial course; lives in Moose Jaw, Sask. 2 c, Greg and Krista . 6. HUDSON Robert Hudson of London, England , was the first of this family to come to Stanhope . Born in 1805, the grandson of the Rev. Robert Hudson , by family tradition he arrived in P.E.I , about 1824. He paid his own passage over here; we have found no record of who his parents were. He leased 55 acres of land on the west side of what is now from the heirs of Sir James Montgomery , the proprietor of Lot 34; the post-dated leases were from ... the 7th day of February 1843 and... the 1st day of November 1847, and the rent was one shilling per acre per annum. By 1861 he had increased his holdings to 102 acres, and in this year he produced 900 bushels of oats, 130 of wheat, 500 of potatoes, 5 tons of hay, and 100 pounds of butter, and owned 4 horses, 10 cattle, 24 sheep and 8 hogs ??? a substantial farmer. He also fished, producing 13 barrels of herring, salted for the winter, and 4 gallons of fish oil. This year, too, the 24 sheep and the 6 Hudson women between them accounted for 24 yards of fulled cloth and 100 yards of... doth not fulled. Robert married Betsy Lawson , sixth child and third daughter of William Lawson of Stanhope and his second wife Ann Graham , about 1828, and they had 3 sons and five daughters; only two of the children married and only one had a family.
