youngest daughter born posthumously) moved to a smaller house near the east border of Stanhope Lane; this had been moved from a site on the Stanhope East Road, near Where the Lawsons now live. Later, Sarah Jane Hudson moved across the lane to the Hudson Homestead, and the smaller house was occupied by her son, Victor, and his Wife, Ruby West; their children were born there. Later still, this house belonged to Victor’s niece, Vivian Abbott; after her death in 1972, it was bought by Parks Canada, and becoming unsafe, was burned by them in 1977.

Of the third generation Hudsons, Victor moved to property in Charlottetown (St. Avard’s) also inheriting his uncle Matthew’s land in West Covehead; Mary and Rachel married and lived in the States; and Annie married Russell Abbott and lived in Charlottetown. No Hudsons live in Stanhope now, though Annie (Hudson) Mellish and husband Harry own summer cottage property here.

To complete the Hudson property history, various parts of William’s original land to the west of Stanhope Lane were sold by Sarah Jane Hudson to John MacLennan Ross and to Bertram Misener; and later other parts by Rachel (Hudson) Tillson, to Harry Mac- Lauchlan, to George Simpson and to Sterling MacKay; the rest of this land and all the Hudson property on the east Side of the lane is now owned by Parks Canada, except for cottage properties belonging to Annie Mellish, Keith Carmichael and NJ. de Wolfe.
