JONES

Howard Jones was born in 1919 in Roseville, Prince County, the son of James Jones and his wife Mary Perry. He worked as a fisherman out of Covehead Harbour for a number of years, living at the harbour or boarding with Stanhope families, e.g. the Roberts family. He fished with Jack Myers, ran a boat for Harry MacLauchlan, and more recently fished with Fred Morrison and Cecil and Robert Roberts. Howard died on August 19, 1981.

KIELLY

The first Kielly, originally from Scotland, is said to have come to the Island from Ireland. The earliest reference we find here is the marriage in 1789 of Robert Kielly to Elizabeth Weatherbie, the location given as Stanhope. In the census of 1798 they were living in Charlotte Town Royalty with three sons aged under 16. One of their sons was probably John Kielly of Cove Head who married Mary Brown, daughter of Lawrence and Jean (Jamieson) Brown, both Falmouth settlers.
