would take the responsibility alone. Ethel, like all the women of the day, hooked mats, made quilts, knitted socks and mitts, and raised ducks and geese to sell at the “Market Place” in Charlottetown.

For seven years, Isaac drove with horse and wagon to the Norwood Road to a fox ranch called “Vimy Ranch”, to work for ten hours a day. Later, Isaac and Bert Misener drove to work in Bert’s Model T Ford. The Lawsons, for many years, provided room and board for the local school teachers; in 1923 and 1924, they also kept a paying pensioner, a Mr. John Coombs. Isaac was unlike the rest of the Lawson family because he was not a traveller; he was never off P.E.I. except to fish along its shores.

2. Helen Alice, b. 10 Jan., 1910, m. 1 May, 1941 to Ivan Edmund Bernard (b. 15 Sept., 1910), son of John and Lottie (Biggar) Bernard. One son, John.

3. Mabel Elizabeth, b. 18 Sept., 1912, d. 10 Oct., 1980, unmarried.

4. Henry Lorne (Harry) b. 16 July, 1917, m. 14 Nov., 1945 to Shirley Elizabeth Campbell (b. 27 Apr., 1924, Boston, Mass.) dau. of Cecil and Lilla Campbell of Whim Road. 2 c.
