Later, George Longworth (b. 6 Feb., 1845), son of the above Henry and Henrietta (Jones) Longworth, operated two lobster canning factories in Stanhope . He bought these from a man named Skerry, from Alberton , who had started them in 1880. One of the factories was on the west side of Covehead Harbour , and the other smaller one on the Shore at the back of the MacLauchlan property. George Longworth 's lobster factories were in operation from 1885 till 1914, when they were bought by the Covehead Packing Company . LYONS George and Joyce Lyons, with their two children, Scott and Linda, moved to Stanhope in December, 1976 from Southport, P.E.I. George was originally from Scotland ; his family emigrated to Montreal when he was a teenager. Joyce was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia . They purchased 24 acres of land from James Allen on the Stanhope , and throughout the fall and winter of 1976 built a three bedroom bungalow. George hoped to start a sheep farm eventually; however, he was then working as manager of the Agro Co-op in Charlottetown . Scott attended Stanhope School and Linda was at Stonepark. George's employment ended in the summer of 1977, so in November of that year they sold their house and land to Geoffrey (Jake) and Janice Shaw , and moved to Cambridge , Ontario .
