Malcolm's sister and made an unscheduled "special delivery" at midnight to the MacAulay home. According to Gertrude, "that was the best letter I ever received." It was from Malcolm, from his hospital bed in England . In a few months he returned home, still with shrapnel in his head and back, which he carries to this day, as it was in too precarious a position for an operation. However, Malcolm has enjoyed a full life since then, and has managed to include much world travel while he worked aboard ships to the U.S.A ., , Mexico and Europe. She began her school life at Stanhope , then to St. Joseph's Convent, Charlottetown , before joining the Order of the Sisters of Notre Dame in Montreal as Sister St . Catherine Scholastica , b. 25 Sept., 1898, Stanhope , attended Stanhope School, and Convent, before entering the Order of the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame in Montreal in 1916, as Sister of St. John of Sicily. She became an excellent primary teacher and devoted thirty-five years to this exacting work. She then studied nursing and served in the community hospital for many years. She is now retired at the Visitation Convent in Dorval, Quebec . 2. Helen, b. 3 Apr., 1900, Stanhope , m. 1. 20 Feb., 1943 to Albert Culkin . m. 2. to Oscar Lindland . As a young woman, Helen went off to the U.S.A . with her sisters. She is now living in New Jersey . 3. Malcolm, b. 25 Sept., 1901, Stanhope , d. July, 1928, Baltimore, U.S.A. bur. Corran Ban . He attended Stanhope School and College before leaving for the U.S.A . where he was employed at Steel Co. in Baltimore , at the time of his fatal car accident. 4. Dorothy, b. 6 Sept., 1903, Stanhope , twin of Mary, d. 1967, Caldwell, New Jersey , m. John A. MacDonald of Coleman. They lived in New York and Virginia. 2 c, John A. and Catherine. 5. Mary, b. 6 Sept., 1903, Stanhope , twin of Dorothy, m. 1. Michael White , 1 c. Margaret Ann Louisa , m. 2. Tom Kilker . Mary lived in Virginia and Caldwell, N.J. A second time widow, she is now living in Saint John , N .B. 6. Cecelia, b. 2 Feb., 1906, Stanhope , studied at Stanhope and P.W.C ., and after teaching on P.E.I , for two years, entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in Montreal as Sister St . Margarita. She furthered her studies and received her M.Sc , Chem. from Fordham University in New York . She taught in P.E.I. , New Brunswick , and Montreal for thirty-five years. She was then made the Superior of Holy Angel Convent in Sydney , N.S. , and later of . Bernard College in Antigonish . Sister became interested in Gerontology and, after studying at , Oregon , returned to P.E.I , to organise services for the retired Sisters of the Order in the Maritime Provinces. Her last three years of active work were on the Missions in . Since 1982, Sister Cecelia MacAulay is retired at St. Mary's Convent in Souris . 382
