then to Prince of Wales College and St. Dunstan’s University. She became a laboratory technician and worked in Summerside until her marriage to Fred Whelan of Alberton. They have lived all their married life in Saint John, NB, where Fred is a pharmacist. 5 c., Janice (Mrs. Dale Chapman), Elizabeth, John, Ann Marie and Thomas.

8. Joseph, b. 14 July, 1931, went to school in Stanhope, and worked on the farm for a few years before going to work in Charlottetown, where he is presently employed with the P.E.I. Liquor Commission. He married Miriam MacIsaac, R.N., of St. Peter’s and they live in Charlottetown. 5 c., Jerry, Maureen, Anne (Mrs. Michael Gairns), Lori and Clare.

9. Clare, b. 30 Dec., 1933, attended Stanhope School, Prince of Wales College, and St. Dunstan’s University, trained as a laboratory technician and worked in Charlottetown. She married John Weatherbie of Charlottetown; they live at Rocky Point. where John (Jackie) works as a painter. 2 c., Thomas and Marianne.

McCORMACK

Two related families of this name lived formerly in Stanhope. Joseph and family lived on the Stanhope East Road, where the Ostridge sub-division is today, on 50 acres of land formerly in the possession of John MacAulay. Joseph was born in West Covehead, one of at least seven children of Bernard and Sis (Stowe) McCormack. Bernard and Michael (Mick) McCormack (see below) were related.

. The children of Bernard and Sis (Stowe) McCormack were: Joseph, Charles, James, John, Belle (Mrs. Cecil Maye), Lydia and a daughter who married a Mr. MacAllister.

Joseph, like his father Bernard, fished out of Covehead Harbour with his brothers. He was married twice, first to a Miss Cameron, and secondly to Susan, daughter of Herman Court. Joseph served in the army.

Joseph’s children were:

Melvin, married Annie Clow, daughter of Ernest Clow. Lydia, married Lorne McInnis.

Clayton, unmarried.

Hazel, married William Lannan.

Michael (Mick) McCormack was born in Ireland in 1847, and died , on April 28, 1898. He was married on August 20, 1877 to Mary Ann McCabe, (1852 - 30 J an., 1914), the eldest daughter of John and Anne (Duffy) McCabe. They lived on the Stanhope East Road, behind where Marven Clow lives today; the house has since been destroyed. They had three daughters:
